"Next stop Raleigh"! the bus driver announced as the bus pulled away from the terminal in Henderson, North Carolina. For eleven and a half hours now I have been traveling on the greyhound bus on my way to Raleigh to meet the man of my dreams. His name is Darell and we've been corresponding with one another via Instant Messages, telephone and e-mails. We met each other on the Allpoetry website. I knew I would be taking a chance especially in this day and age but somehow I felt compelled to meet him. I put my trust in God and decided to go out on a limb to meet this man who I have been loving and admiring from a distance. Maybe it was the softness and reassurance in his voice that soothed me and made me feel safe and secure in meeting him. 2

Even though I wasn't afraid to make the trip, I was a bit nervous on the bus especially when it grew dark outside and the rain began to beet down on the windows of the bus. This was my first trip to a new and different city and I thank God for cell phones, because if it weren't for those cell phones, Darell and I would not have been able to communicate with each other during the course of my trip. He was there for me every step of the way from the moment I awoke the morning of my trip, to the bus terminal in Newark New Jersey, he was there offering me sincere words of love and comfort, and lifting my spirits. We talked and laughed and and gave each other encouragement. He was there for me every step of the way until I reached my destination in Raleigh N.C. 4
I glanced at my cell phone. It was approximately 8:15pm and we were expected to arrive in Raleigh around 9:30pm. I sat back in my seat staring into the darkness through the window unable to see anything but the fierce beating of the rain against the windows of the bus. Let me tell you guys just how Darell and I came to meet and grow so fond of one another. I say it was faith and just being at the right place at the right time. The right place being Allpoetry.com and the perfect time had everything to do with a poem I wrote titled "Kiss Me" which Darell somehow came across, read and immediately loved. Naturally he commented to my poem and began sending me instant messages complimenting me on my writings and praising my work. To say I was flattered by the attention would be an understatement. Each time I logged on to AP, I would see messages on my screen from Darell asking me to check out one of his poems that he wrote and to give him feedback when I had the opportunity. He did this quite a few times until I began to wonder just who this Darell person is, so out of curiosity and courtesy, I decided to visit his homepage and check out more of his poems. While I was going through his poems, I came across one titled "Lickaluscious" which had a photograph of him in the background. I absolutely fell in love with his photo and wanted to know more about the person behind the photo who had me bouncing around AP giving him feedback on several of his poems.5
The love story between Darell and I grew out of a poem I wrote titled "Kiss Me", which was eventually followed by another poem titled "Two Hearts" which I wrote for Darell but didn't reveal it to him until I knew for certain that their was a magic brewing between us. I wrote this poem because I felt that we were like two hearts headed in the same direction and would eventually meet each other. Darell in turn wrote a poem titled "Testing Testing" which he initially sent me off to read and give feedback on without me ever realizing that he was testing the waters between us. "Testing Testing" was eventually followed by many other poems that we wrote to one another back and fourth. 6

Between all the poems, the IM's, e-mails, and telephone corresponding, we were falling in love and we both knew it and felt it. I loved the sound of his voice and I especially loved his smile. To be quite honest, we were both very smitten by each other. We were head over heels and loving one another from a distance with promises of eventually meeting someday. We spoke endlessly on the phone everyday and night, we exchanged photographs of one another. We were generally learning and discovering so much about each other that when we finally met, we were like lovers who haven't seen each other for a very long time.8
As I sat on the bus totally consumed by thoughts of meeting the love of my life and the man who would be my soul mate, the driver finally announced that we would be arriving in Raleigh in the next ten minutes. I glanced at my phone and realized that it was only 9:10pm, we would be arriving earlier than expected. I quickly gathered my blanket and pillow and placed them in my over sized bag. By the time the bus pulled into Raleigh bus terminal, I had already gathered all of my belongings and was ready to meet my prince charming. The bus finally pulled into the station as the driver announced "Raleigh"!. With my pocketbook and over sized bag in my arms, I quickly proceeded off the bus and picked up my luggage. Upon entering the station, I immediately recognized him as he rose up from his chair to greet me. We were both smiling from cheek to cheek as we gave each other hugs and kisses. He was everything that I thought he would be and more. Darell was an absolute prince charming. He was even more gorgeous, breathtaking and handsome in person. 9
After making our acquaintances, he helped me with my luggage as we made our way to his car. We walked together hand in hand as the rain cascaded ever so gently upon us. Needless to say, it was the beginning of a romance that either one of us is ever likely to forget. 10

You are my world, my dreams come true, my life, my love, my everything. Life will never be the same without you to share it with me. Dear Eric, life is really strange isn't it? One never know where, when or who one will fall inlove with. A stream of events bought Darell and I together and God willing it will keep us together until we have reached our appointed destination. I thank you Eric for reading my story, our story and wishing us many happiness. Poetry bought us together and poetry and the love that we share and feel for each other will keep us together, and yes, Raleigh is a romantic place, a perfect setting for a real life love story. Ms Diamond, My goodness I have just read a real life romance novel (I love romantic stories). You know, I first thought AllPoetry was a place to read enjoyable fiction but no it has its own real life romance writings too thank you so much for sharing (I was going to ask eventually). - You (pair) have made my morning with his story I wish you both all the happiness you deserve (and I expect to receive further chapters too). - - (it is so fitting that two people who can communicate in a written form with such skill would meet and fall in love through exchanging written words a true fairy tail) --- Heavens, Avril (Darell) I even think Raleigh is such a romantic place what you have written here is a perfect story.

OHHHH Avril, This is wonderful to read, I was hoping you would write a story about your meeting with Darell (our peter) I love it, i remember when you told me you were going! i was so excited, my thoughts were with the both of you that week end with never a doubt that it would work out. for you and Darell were meant for each other, when he IM'D me, said he'd met his soul mate I already had a suspicion it was you from the comments you left on his poems, so I visited your site and there were similar love poems and comments from Darell. I IM'D him saying I think I know who it is, is it diamond? by then it was out in the open, you were both declaring your love for each other. I was so happy for the both of you and watched your romance bloom into a true and deep love.
