Part one

It was a horrible, dreary, wet day when I found it. I was walking to school in the process of getting my coat out of my bag, rushing to get out of the rain and concentrating on stopping my books getting wet. “Damn it” I said as my lunch box slipped out. I stooped down wiping the rain off my face and as I went to pick it up something glinted in my peripheral vision, I looked around, puzzled how it had glinted in this rain, then I noticed a single, lonely, circle of light shining through the cloud onto a drain cover, like a spotlight from heaven. I walked over curiosity overcoming me. I looked at the weird object that the light was oddly shining off. 1

As I neared the object time seemed to slow down. Giving all the lights a shiny, multicoloured, nimbus. Watching the cars going past was like watching a weird, moving, modern art gallery. Then I turned my attention back to the object, looking at it now, a few paces away I could see what it was. It was a ring, but a ring of such beauty that it dazzled your eyes after looking at it for too long, but I couldn't’t help it. It was the perfect size for my middle finger with a huge, ethereal gem inside the golden rim. 2

As I bent down to pick it up a car hit a puddle by me so as I stood fondling the ring a flood of refreshing, warm water hit me, it was like being in heaven. I looked around again amazed at the wonderful colours that could come from a dreary London street. The lights shone the colours of the rainbow, the cars had a magnificent luminous quality to their already beautiful colours. Then an urge hit me that no mortal could resist. I put the ring on.3

My name is Matt Paden, I am 15 years old, I live in London, I am 1m 89cm tall with hazelnut hair bright green eyes very fair skin, and so people tell me, I have a very inquisitive, and simple mind. So what was happening to me now my mind couldn't’t comprehend. I was floating and was going through space at such a speed that, if I looked behind me I could only just see the earth, dwindling away like when you watch a plane fly over the horizon. I looked at the ring and on the gem a single letter was glowing black on the red background. F. I pondered what that meant until I realized I had changed direction and was heading for a planet, it seemed to be green, until I realised that it was covered in a huge rainforest, covering the planet from one side to another. As I neared the planet I felt a burning melting sensation all over my body, with a jolt I realised I was in the atmosphere of the planet and if I kept at the speed I was going I would burn up in a matter of seconds. I looked wildly around for a way out when I saw the ring, weirdly not affected by the heat, so with an adrenaline pumped body I pulled the ring off my disintegrating finger. BANG!!! I woke in a dark place not realising the extraordinary journey I had just been through, and to no wonder I fell unconscious. What happened was when I pulled the ring off my finger I had separated my body from the magic taking me to that planet, so I had got sucked back to earth by the rift in space that was left. But I wasn’t transported back to London. I was taken to the Bermuda Triangle. Which was the only place in the universe where worlds connected so immediately I got sucked back to the world I just arrived at.4
