Forever Holme Part IIII The Magic Child

Continued from previous:1

Perceval turns over Rachel who is unconscious in the fallen leaves. As he does this she regains consciousness and gives a little groan.2

PERCEVAL:3

Are you alright? 4

RACHEL:5

Mmm... where am I?6

PERCEVAL:7

Did your horse throw you? (helps her sit up)8

RACHEL:9

I don't know... where am I... who are you?10

PERCEVAL: (kneels on one knee beside her)11

Perceval Rosemont.12

RACHEL:13

Who? Um...14

PERCEVAL:15

And, my sweet, you appear to have strayed into private land. (looks at what she's wearing.) Those aren't normal clothes for a woman to wear surely. (looks suspicious)16

RACHEL:17

Uh... I don't know what you mean...18

PERCEVAL:19

Are you hurt? 20

(places his hands either side of her face and looks in her eyes and realises she is concussed.)21

PERCEVAL:22

Hm... whats your name?23

RACHEL:24

I...uh... Rachel...25

PERCEVAL:26

Where are you from?27

RACHEL: (trying to think)28

I don't... I... I don't know...29

PERCEVAL:30

Rachel, you appear to have sustained a head injury. Now... thats going to give you a nasty headache... I can see. (examining her) Can you stand up?31

(He helps her to her feet, but she has a terrible headache and collapses to her knees.)32

RACHEL:33

OOOOOOhhhhh my... what is this...??? Uhhhh....34

PERCEVAL:35

Hmmm... (looks her up and down thoughtfully) Are.. you from here Rachel?36

RACHEL:37

I dont.. know.. I.. (delerious)38

PERCEVAL:39

Don't worry... don't worry about a thing.40

(He helps her to her feet and holds her steady, looks deep into her eyes and she stops, hypnotised by him. He raises one finger and she focusses on that. He taps her on her forehead and she collapses unconscious in his arms. He picks her up and walks with her through the woods followed by his Horse. At the edge of the wood is a path leading to Forever Holme. He walks to Forever Holme with her and as he does so it begins to snow heavily.)41

PERCEVAL:42

Snow.. now you'll have to stay... (grins)43

CUT TO:
Int. Day.44

Perceval kicks open the front door of Forever Holme and carries unconscious Rachel inside. Allie comes over and fusses as she usually does.45

ALLIE:
Master Perceval, what in the world...?46

PERCEVAL:
I found her, out in the woods. Obviously her horse has thrown her... or something to that effect. 47

ALLIE:
My goodness! Sir, we must get a doctor!48

PERCEVAL:
I am a doctor... 49

(He lays Rachel down on a sofa in the parlour, she is still unconscious)50

ALLIE:
Indeed sir, you have been trained as such...51

PERCEVAL:
So what's the problem?52

ALLIE:
Well she might need to go to a hospital.53

PERCEVAL:
No.. I won't hear of it. Get a room ready for her Allie...54

ALLIE:
Right away Master Perceval!55

PERCEVAL:
Oh.. and Allie? Make it warm for her will you?56

(Allie makes her way upstairs to make the bed. Perceval sits on the edge of the sofa gazing at her.)57

PERCEVAL:
They told me you would come and here you are. Don't worry I'll look after you.58

CUT TO:
Forever Holme kitchen, much later. Allie is cooking some dinner and Perceval walks in.59

PERCEVAL:
She's asleep. She'll be alright when she wakes up.60

ALLIE:
Aye sir... would you like some tea?61

PERCEVAL:
No.. no.. I just want to make sure she'll be checked on when I am out this evening. Will you go up and check every hour?62

ALLIE:
Aye I will do that sir.63

(There is a long silence whilst Allie continues with her work. Perceval watches her)64

PERCEVAL:
Allie are you even listening to me.65

ALLIE:
If the lass has any sense she'll get herself away from this place, and you as fast as she can. 66

(Allie stops and glares at Perceval. He says nothing, he walks out and closes the door. He walks along the corridor angrily and out of the front door. It is already snowing quite hard. He rides off and eventually comes to a clearing in the forest. There are already a few members of the order there, waiting for him. He dismounts and ties the horse to a tree and they gather round.)67

PERCEVAL:
News brothers. She has arrived. She came to me just like we prophesised. 68

HOOD1:
Then we should make preparations to bring forth the Magic Child, master. 69

PERCEVAL:
Indeed. Which is why I am cancelling tonights rite. The snow will not make it worthwhile, and besides we must concentrate on the rituals at Forever Holme. Is everyone in aggreement?70

ALL:
Yes Master Perceval.71

PERCEVAL:
That is all. Preparations will begin next week. 72

(He mounts his horse again and rides back to Forever Holme through the snow.)73

CUT TO:
Int. Night.
Rachels bedroom. Allie has just finished stoking the fire in the bedroom and is tidying up a bit when Rachel slowly comes round. It is warm and cosy and the bed is lovely and soft, she smiles as she wakes up, and sits up slowly to find Allie there going about her business.74

ALLIE:
Miss... you are awake. How are you feeling?75

RACHEL:
What? Who are you? What's going on?76

ALLIE:
Well the Master brought you home, said he found you out in the Forest, did your horse throw you?77

RACHEL:
I don't remember... um.. this.. isn't this Forever Holme?78

ALLIE:
Yes .. yes it is.. and it was the Master who found you. 79

RACHEL:
He did? I don't remember anything...80

ALLIE:
Well he did say you hurt your head and that looks like a nasty bruise there.81

RACHEL:
Oh.. 82

(reaches up and touches her forehead)83

ALLIE:
Do you remember anything at all dear?84

RACHEL:
Hardly.. except I know this is Forever Holme.. and I don't know who you are.. should I know?85

ALLIE:
No Miss, I'm just the staff. (smiles) I expect your memories will return, untill then you need to rest. I would say go home and rest but the snow is coming thick and fast, you'll not get anywhere tonight especially in your condition. I shall bring you a hot cocoa, would you like that?86

RACHEL:
I.. I think so.. Um.. sorry I don't know your name?87

ALLIE:
The names Allie. And yours miss?88

RACHEL:
Rachel...(smiles) Ohh I have a bit of a headache...89

ALLIE:
You rest dear.. I'll bring ye that cocoa.. fire's on so you'll be warm. 90

(Allie bows and leaves the room just as Perceval enters the house slamming the door behind him. She meets him half way on the stairs.)91

ALLIE:
Good evening Master Perceval sir. 92

PERCEVAL:
Is she awake?93

ALLIE:
Aye.. for all the good it will do her. 94

(There is a silence, Perceval glares at her)95

PERCEVAL:
I can do without this you know. I'm not all bad.96

ALLIE:
Thats as maybe sir. I'm just going to get your supper for you. 97

(She makes her way down the stairs hardly looking at him and into the kitchen. Perceval goes upstairs to where Rachels room is and he hesitates outside the door for a moment before knocking.)98

PERCEVAL:
Miss Rachel?99

(She answers from inside)100

RACHEL:
Yes.. who is it?101

PERCEVAL:
Tis I .. Lord Perceval.. may I come in?102

RACHEL:
Yes of course.. 103

(She sits up in the bed and makes herself comfortable as he comes in. He stands at the bottom of the bed with his hand behind his back like a gentleman should.)104

PERCEVAL:
I trust you are feeling better Miss Rachel?105

RACHEL:
Ohh a little.. I have a stinker of a headache...106

PERCEVAL:
Pardon?107

RACHEL:
My head.. it... hurts.. still. 108

PERCEVAL:
Hm... you..er..arent' from around here I can tell. Your accent is unusual and your clothes, not fit for a woman at all. Can you remember anything?109

RACHEL:
No.. I .. sort of know this place is Forever Holme but its like I should know or remember but I just can't. 110

PERCEVAL:
You are in good hands Miss Rachel. I trained as a doctor at Oxford and run a small practice. (smiles) So you may stay here till such times as you feel better. There is a terrible snow storm tonight and we shall be snowed in here for many months.. thats likely.111

(Hesitates a little and then sits down at the bottom of the bed.) 112

PERCEVAL:
In the winter time up here at Forever Holme it can get a bit isolated. 113

(long silence as they exchange looks. He clearly finds her attractive and glances down to her breasts and to her face.)114

PERCEVAL:
You will be company for us.115

RACHEL:
Do you live in this big old house all alone?116

PERCEVAL: (nods)
More or less... a few servants and friends but mostly alone. 117

RACHEL:
Well I don't know what to say.. I thank you for taking care of me like this... 118

PERCEVAL:
Oh.. don't worry about it.. Rachel.. may I call you Rachel?119

RACHEL:
Yes.. thats okay.. (Smiles)120

PERCEVAL:
And you may call me Perceval. 121

(He bows his head respectively a little. Reaches for her hand and holds it. She is a little wary but lets him hold her hand.)122

PERCEVAL:
My.. you do have beautiful hands...123

(Rachel blinks once or twice and stares at him.)124

PERCEVAL:
Is.. is everything alright?125

RACHEL:
You seem familiar somehow.. and when you said that then it was as if I had heard you say it before...126

PERCEVAL:
(smiles) The amnesia you suffered must be causing that. Don't worry.127

RACHEL:
Oh..sometimes its like I nearly remember something and then its gone, but.. yes..you do seem familiar somehow. 128

PERCEVAL: (holds her hand in both of his)
I will take care of you.. anything you need you just ask. And I will check on you from time to time just to make sure that head injury doesn't get worse. 129

RACHEL:
Thank you Lord Perceval.. er.. Perceval.130

PERCEVAL: (Smiles and nods)
I will check in on you after supper. Would that be alright?131

RACHEL:
Thank you I would like that. 132

PERCEVAL:
Then its settled. 133

(He stands up and kisses her hand.)134

PERCEVAL:
You rest my dear. 135

(He leaves the room and closes the door gently. His expression changes and he is more serious. He starts to talk to himself a little.. whispering.. he is clearly in turmoil.)136

PERCEVAL:
She's beautiful, she's a beautiful pure soul... I can't do it.. 137

(He glances upward and walks upstairs to the top of the house where Elijahs' room is. The door is closed. He goes toward it and places a hand on the door knob. He thinks better of it and doesn't go in. Instead he goes back downstairs. It can be seen that he is struggling with the demon within him and losing.138

CUT TO:
Perceval's bedroom later that night. He wakes up with a start, sweating.139

PERCEVAL:
Nooo! No not tonight.. no.. please leave me alone.. please...140

(He looks to the bottom of the bed where there is a mirror. It is not his reflection staring back but something different. It looks like him but its eyes are like fire.)141

PERCEVAL:
I can't do it...142

REFLECTION:
You have no choice.143

PERCEVAL:
But a magic child? She is too pure.. I cannot think of her hurt or used.. I will not put her through it.144

REFLECTION:
You will.. as did your father before you... (laughs) You cannot fight against me Perceval Rosemont I can make you suffer in ways you cannot imagine. 145

PERCEVAL:
Don't hurt her please..hurt me all you like but not her.146

REFLECTION:
I recall you said the same thing when we killed your brother... (laughs)147

PERCEVAL:
He was an innocent.. you don't have to do that.. you don't have to kill.. he was my brother.. and the best friend I ever ha-148

(Perceval is dragged out of bed by invisible hands and thrown across the room. He struggles but his own eyes become like fire. He runs out of the room and stands at the stairwell his hands gripping the bannister... he starts to weep quietly but it gets louder and Rachel is disturbed in her sleep. She gets up and throws on a dressing gown before tip-toeing out of the room. She sees Perceval at the stairs cleary troubled.)149

RACHEL:
Lord.. Perceval?150

(He turns around quickly and sees her there he turns back and wipes his eyes.)151

PERCEVAL:
Oh.. oh.. I do apologise.. 152

RACHEL:
I couldn't help but hear you sir...um Perceval. 153

PERCEVAL:
I am sorry I woke you.. its just.. a really bad night for me thats all. 154

RACHEL:
Why...?155

(She goes to him and takes his hand and he holds hers.)156

PERCEVAL:
It was.. 22 years ago today...my twin brother fell down these stairs and died. I have blamed myself for his death ever since. Tonight I dreamed of him. He was only twelve years old. 157

RACHEL: (concerned)
Oh.. Ohhh how did that happen? Thats awful.. 158

PERCEVAL:
I don't know exactly.. we were playing on the stairs.. it was a game. Suddenly I heard him scream. He went right over.. right over.. and he was gone. He was my best friend in all the world.. my brother...I never saw him again after that. The housekeeper told me every bone in his body broke... I .. I just miss him sometimes. And this is the anniversary of the night he died.159

RACHEL:
Oh.. Perceval.. thats a horrible thing to have happened.. to anyone...160

PERCEVAL:
I shouldn't weep.. I shouldn't...it was so long ago. And I.. I didn't mean to wake you up after you have been through so much today.. 161

RACHEL:
No.. you should.. and its alright. I don't mind you waking me up. You have been so kind to me Perceval. 162

(he turns to her and looks in her eyes)163

PERCEVAL:
You don't need to thank me Miss Rachel.. I only hope that you feel better. Look at me going on about my own problems.. and you having hurt yourself. Do you have any memories about what happened yet?164

RACHEL:
No.. but this place seems very familiar to me as do you... somehow. (Smiles) I just can't quite get it and things are a little confusing. I really don't know how I can thank you. I just wish I could remember. Are you sure we don't already know one another?165

PERCEVAL:
I think I would remember knowing someone as lovely as you Rachel. (pauses) And now we must return to bed. For it is late and outside it is freezing. This house can get uncommonly cold on nights such as this. 166

RACHEL:
Yes.. 167

(turns to go but lingers looking at him and smiles.)168

PERCEVAL:
Miss Rachel..? (pauses) Thank you .. again.. 169

(He takes her hand and kisses her fingers)170

RACHEL:
No.. thank YOU Lord Perceval... I mean.. Perceval.. (blushes)171

(He pulls her close to him suddenly and surprises her, lingering for some time looking into her eyes and she into his. After a few moments he seems to snap out of it and lets her go.)172

PERCEVAL:
Do forgive me... but it is hard for a man to maintain control when in the company of such beauty... 173

(She gasps and looks into his eyes as if searching for something.)174

RACHEL:
You take my breath away... (straightens up) You sort of took me by surprise there...175

PERCEVAL:
As you take my breath away, every time I look at you. 176

(long silence. They move closer to each other and melt into a breath stealing kiss which becomes very passionate. He holds her in his arms and she is helpless to resist.)177

PERCEVAL:
My lady, I am in awe of you... but in such turmoil.. what am I doing? You are injured and need rest.. and yet I cannot help myself.. your beauty is... intoxicating.178

RACHEL:
I feel so.. attracted to you.. I can't explain it.. its..179

PERCEVAL:
No need for words... no need... I think we .. both understand don't we Rachel?180

(She nods and he kisses her again deep and passionate. He picks her up and she wraps her legs around him and he presses her against the wall kissing her roughly and she kissing him back with equal passion. He opens the door to his bedroom which is nearby and takes her inside, at the same time ripping off her flimsy gown that she is wearing. She is completely at his mercy. The door to the bedroom closes with a click.)181

CUT TO:
A wedding. It is only a few weeks since Rachel appeared at Forever Holme and hers and Percevals relationship has moved on and now they are getting married at Forever Holme in part of the house that is a chapel. Perceval and Rachel exchange loving glances and rings and both of them seem really happy. CUT TO: That evening, Rachel goes to the library to speak with her new husband and finds him there with a few of his friends. She knocks and comes in.)182

RACHEL:
Perceval darling.. I... (stops abruptly)183

PERCEVAL:
Oh.. Rachel dear, its just a few friends, we're just gong through some business, don't worry..it's alright.. 184

RACHEL:
Oh I didn't mean to interrupt.. its just that the reception begins in half an hour and everyone was wondering where you were.. 185

(Percevals friends introduce themselves. We see that one of them is Count st. Germain. There are three others, Aliester, Edrich and young Joshua whom we recognise. Germain stands up first and kisses her hand.)186

GERMAIN:
My lady, it is a pleasure to meet the new wife of Lord Perceval, we thought he'd be a batchelor forever. My name is Germain.187

ALIESTER:
Allow me to also introduce myself, my name is Aliester, I have known Lord Perceval for years and it is indeed a pleasure to meet you.. 188

EDRICH:
Yes my lady a pleasure indeed, my name is Edrich and this is my son Joshua. When we heard you two were getting married we simply had to come. Sadly my dear wife passed away but I am sure she would have been here if she had been alive to see it. Finally Lord Perceval married..189

(Joshua bows and they all shake hands with her. Perceval interrupts..)190

PERCEVAL:
Now now...everyone.. this beautiful lady is mine. You must all keep your filthy paws from her... (smiles and kisses her.)191

(They look into each others eyes and embrace. They leave the room to join the reception. CUT TO: The marital bedroom. Rachel is dressed in a silky nightgown and Perceval is still dressed in his suit. He is leaning against the door with his hands in his pockets and she is brushing her hair by the mirror and sitting down.)192

PERCEVAL:
You were beautiful today Mrs Rosemont. 193

RACHEL:
Well thank you... Mr Rosemont.194

PERCEVAL:
Can I ask you something?195

RACHEL:
Anything darling.196

PERCEVAL:
Would you love me.. no matter what?197

RACHEL:
I'm your wife now.. of course I will.. and I have taken the vows to prove it. (smiles)198

PERCEVAL:
There's things I... haven't told you about me... that maybe I should have. 199


(She stops brushing her hair and looks at him in the mirror)200

RACHEL:

PERCEVAL:
I'm not like everyone else Rachel... I am different. I... 202

RACHEL:
Darling.. what's wrong? We had such a wonderful day...203

PERCEVAL: (lights cigarette and smokes it)
We had a perfect day.. and I love you very much.. I adore you Rachel... I want you to have my...204

RACHEL:

(Tense silence)206

PERCEVAL:
Nothing.. nothing I was just thinking out loud.207

RACHEL: (brushes hair again)
You can be so funny sometimes darling... 208

(He suddenly exits the room and closes the door behind him. Rachel stops brushing her hair again.)210

RACHEL:
Perceval?211

(She gets up and opens the door but he is not around and the house is strangely quiet.)212

RACHEL:
Perceval? Honey? Where are you? Perceval?213

(She slowly makes her way down the stairs. It is cold and quiet and scary)214

RACHEL:
Perceval?216

(As she goes down the stairs she hears some strange whispering and humming. At the bottom of the stairs she stops and looks to the library where there is a light under the door and this is where the strange humming is coming from and then some chanting. It suddenly stops and she takes a few steps forward. Suddenly she is attacked by three hooded figures. She screams out but they strip her of her clothes and drag her screaming to the library.)217

CUT TO: The Library a few hours later - Night Int.218

(Rachel awakens afer a terrible ordeal, in the room there is only Rachel and Perceval. He is sitting on a chair behind the desk in the library as if nothing had happened and watching over her.. she realises she is naked. She slowly sits up trying in vain to cover herself up)219

RACHEL
What did you do to me? (shivering) Wh.. why?220

PERCEVAL
Was necessary. I had to do it.. we all have to do it. Its .. our nature...221

RACHEL:
What are you talking about? What nature...?222

PERCEVAL:
You don't know me at all Rachel. I'm... not as nice as I made out.. using you... and I'm sorry for that. It is just that we have no choice... it's our way. A curse that I am part of. Can't do anything about. 223

(Perceval lights up a cigarette and tries to remain calm, but his hand shakes slightly. Rachel notices this.)224

RACHEL
You didn't have to rape me... I am your wife...225

PERCEVAL
You would not have agreed otherwise. You don't know what the curse is... 226

RACHEL
The curse? (long pause) Never mind the curse.. you raped me.. your friends... were doing rituals... it was horrible... 227

(She cries uncontrollably. Perceval stands up and throws her robe over to her.)228

PERCEVAL
Get up.229

(She slowly gets up and puts her robe on and realises there is a pentagram painted on the floor)230

PERCEVAL
You'll be having a baby.231

RACHEL
What do you mean? 232

PERCEVAL
The Magic child... my son... my successor.. the next Earl of Rosemont. 233

RACHEL
Perceval... whats going on... why won't you tell me whats going on? 234

(Perceval looks despondent but trying to hide that. He is disgusted by what he has done.)235

PERCEVAL
I love you Rachel.. and I'm so sorry...236

(He reaches out to her to hold her and she pushes him away. He looks into her eyes for a moment and then walks out of the library and slams the door behind him.)237

CUT TO:
The Kitchen later that night. Rachel sits at the table still shaking and drinking a cup of tea that Allie made for her. Allie sits opposite her.238

RACHEL:
I don't understand it.. he was like a man possessed... by the Devil... (long pause, drinks tea) We were so happy Allie. Why did he do this?239

ALLIE:
Tell me what happened Miss Rachel.. there now... take your time.240

(Allie reaches out to touch her hand.)241

RACHEL:
His friends attacked me... they tied me up... stripped me... and Perceval... he was wearing a hooded robe.. like they were wearing. I.. I... 242

(Rachel cries while speaking but Allie is patient.)243

RACHEL:
I looked up... and Perceval was... his eyes.. were... 244

(CUT TO: Close up of Percevals eyes, but glowing a flourescent green.. Rachel seems to gaze into nothingness and screams... Allie runs to her and tries to calm her down.)245

RACHEL:
My husband is a Daemon... he's not human I tell you... he's not human...246

ALLIE:
Mrs Rosemont you must be calm, you need to rest.. come now... shall I get your bed ready for you?247

RACHEL:
You don't understand Allie, he raped me and it wasn't the Perceval I know and love... it was something else... it frightened me... I've never seen anything like it in my life... 248

(Perceval enters the room)249

PERCEVAL
Get out Allie...250

(Allie obediently leaves. Gives Perceval a look of disdain. He returns it. As she leaves he turns from Rachel and looks out of the kitchen window.)251

PERCEVAL
F..for the last... thirteen or so years since my father died... I have been haunted... and.. when I look in the mirror.. there it is staring back at me. I have no choice but to do what I am bid. It's the curse...252

RACHEL:
You keep saying that... what curse?253

(Perceval turns around, his eyes red and tears brimming.)254

PERCEVAL
Did you think I wanted to take you like that? That I wanted to hurt you.. to subject you to that ritual?255

(Long pause. Perceval sniffs and wipes his eyes.)256

RACHEL:
Don't stand there and cry... after what you did to me I should leave... I think I will... 257

PERCEVAL
Don't.. don't leave please. 258

RACHEL:
You raped me.. your own wife.. on our wedding night.. why? I loved you.. it should have been natural.259

PERCEVAL:
You wouldn't have gone through with the ritual willingly. If I'd asked you to help me create a Magic child you wouldn't have done it.260

RACHEL:
No.. and do you know why Perceval Rosemont?261

(Rachel stands and goes over to him and shouts in his face.)262

RACHEL:
Because its sick, its strange, its Devil worship. You have no idea what you put me through do you? And you stand there. .and cry and offer me a pathetic explanation for raping me!263

PERCEVAL:
I.. I know... I know...264

(Long pause. Perceval turns from her.. and sits down at the table very distressed, his head in his hands.)265

PERCEVAL:
My mother died during childbirth. I.. was born first and then my brother.. then just like every Rosemont bride she died.. she died...266

RACHEL:
Oh really? Well I'm sorry for you.. but what has that got to do with anything? You're nothing but a monster. I should never have married you...267

(Rachel removes her wedding ring and places it on the table. Perceval picks it up.)268

PERCEVAL:
If I'd told you the truth you'd never have married me.269

RACHEL:
What truth? That you're a Devil worshipper? That you wanted to rape me and subject me to torture?270

PERCEVAL:
I never wanted to. 271

(long pause.. Rachel walks to the door about to leave the room.)272

PERCEVAL:
I.. I am under a curse... a curse on my whole family. Without a Magic child I will cease to exist.. I will die.. and that can't happen...273

RACHEL:
Your excuses are pathetic Perceval...I'm leaving... 274

(She walks out and slams the door behind her, going upstairs to get some things together. Perceval sits sobbing at the table for a moment.. and then a kind of anger takes over him. He stands up.. his eyes glow green for a moment and he smiles.)275

PERCEVAL:
Oh Rachel? If you think you are leaving with my Magic Child you have another thing coming.276

(He runs out of the room and catches her on the stairs and pins her to the wall.)277

PERCEVAL
I am your husband and you will do as I say.. If I have to tie you up...278

RACHEL:
Get off me.. who do you think you are?279

(He slaps her hard and she is dazed.. she slides down the wall a little)280

PERCEVAL:
You listen to me you little slut.. you have nowhere to go, and I won't let you go, you saw what I can do, want to see?281

(He looks at a little table on the landing and it immediately flies down the stairs and smashes into a wall.)282

PERCEVAL:
I don't have to touch you to hurt you Rachel. I hope I have made myself perfectly clear. 283

Local Tavern Int. Day. Caption reads "seven months later"284

Perceval sits at the bar drinking. His hair is all undone and half tied up, his shirt is partially undone and he looks a real mess, the beginnings of a beard on his chin.285

BARMAN

PERCEVAL

(Hands him his Tankard)288

PERCEVAL:

BARMAN:
Do ye not think ye've 'ad enough Sir?290

PERCEVAL:
I..say when I have had enough... (growls)Leave the bottle on the bar.291

(The Barman feels sheepish and steps away, leaving a bottle on the bar for Perceval.)292

BARMAN:
Aye Sir.. here's your bottle... 293

(The barman moves away to clean some glasses. Perceval continues drinking. People give him strange looks and some of them seem to be ill, and no one sits near him. The door opens and a man dressed in black steps in. We see only his feet first and then his back as he walks in. Perceval stops drinking, the tankard poised at his lips as he stares in disbelief. The man walks towards him, the camera focusses on his right hand and the Archangel ring. It is Elijah.)294

ELIJAH:
Hello Perceval.295

(He leans against the bar)296

ELIJAH:
Been a long time.. hasn't it?297

(Long silence, the entire pub is silent.)298

PERCEVAL:
They told me you were dead.299

(Elijah looks around and smiles and nods at people.. who try to get back to talking and drinking as they were.)300

ELIJAH:
(leans forward to speak quietly) Maybe I was ... but I got over it really quickly... (Grins, narrows eyes at Perceval.)301

BARMAN:
What can I get you Sir?302

ELIJAH:
French Red Wine.. large glass.303

BARMAN:
Coming up Sir.. would you like the bottle?304

ELIJAH:
That would be acceptable yes.. thank you.305

(The barman leaves a full glass and a bottle on the bar for him.)306

PERCEVAL:
Where have you been?307

ELIJAH:
Here, there and everywhere...with the Gypsies.. (Smiles.. drinks) My lot.. as you put it.308

PERCEVAL:
You shouldn't have come back here. Whats here for you now...? The house is in ruins... my life... the same. I married a woman that I might have a child with her and the child.. is not mine.. its just not mine.. (Drinks a mouthful)309

ELIJAH:
I came back because I missed the old place. And you of course Perceval. It really has been a long time. Hasn't it? 310

(Long silence as Elijah takes in the pitiful state of his brother)311

PERCEVAL:
Have you come back here.. to take whats mine? The house.. the Earldom? Is that it?312

ELIJAH:
No.. no Brother.. I came back for you. We are twins.. what you feel I feel. It is the way of it.313

PERCEVAL:
How could you know what I'm going through... what I am... what I've done? It's killing me... now I know why the old man drank so much in his life.. it must have been killing him inside as well. I don't think I can go on like this... Eli.. Eli... you shouldn't have come back.. you don't know whats happening. I'm.. I'm glad you're alive...314

ELIJAH:
Why do you drink so much now? Has something happened today?315

PERCEVAL:
I've turned into a monster Eli. There are times when I just have no control over it and I can't remember what I did. (Long pause) Today... we argued.. again. She was crying and so weak, and she said to me she wanted to divorce me... thats all I remembered.. and the next thing I know.. I'm standing over her... and she's beaten black and blue and begging for me to stop. She's pregnant gonna have a baby and I did that to her? I love her so much and .. I do a thing like that?316

ELIJAH:
Its ...not you Perceval.. I know it isn't. I saw what happened all those years ago. I know you have no control over it.317

PERCEVAL:
She's going to die... and there's nothing I can do. I was trained as a doctor and there's nothing I can do.. I did it to her. Why did I do that?318

ELIJAH
If you will permit me brother.. I learned some techniques that may save her life...319

PERCEVAL:
With the Gypsies?320

ELIJAH

(Perceval grabs him by his coat lapel)322

PERCEVAL:
I just knew you were still alive.. they told me you died, that you fell from the stairwell and died... but I knew you were alive.. I could feel you.. my twin.323

ELIJAH:
Do you know it was you who pushed me down the stairwell?324

PERCEVAL:

(Stares at him in disbelief)326

PERCEVAL:
Oh my God.. I am so sorry.. I didn't know.. I didn't know...327

ELIJAH
They took me away from Forever Holme... because of that night. But now I'm back. I promise I will help you .. and your lady.328

PERCEVAL:
Do you think you can?329

ELIJAH:
Lets go see if I can Perceval. I came back to help you. We are as close as brothers can be.. you remember our good times don't you?330

PERCEVAL:
You were my only friend. Of course I remember. Of course I do.331

(Elijah eyes him with a little suspicion but says nothing. Just drinks his French wine.)332

PERCEVAL:
Very well... If you think you could help my wife I would be most grateful.. I myself am beyond all hope and lost to it... Was my destiny from day one.333

ELIJAH
No it wasn't Perceval. You can fight it... you know you can.334

PERCEVAL
I fear ... Elijah.. My brother that I will not, and one day I shall lose myself... as our father did. I wish for death more than any man ever has... and it will not let me die. If I cut myself I do not bleed... If I burn myself I do not burn. If I drink at least I do not remember, and have no time to regret... and so alcohol helps me... in that way.335

(Elijah helps his brothter out of the Tavern to where the horses are tied up outside. There are a few horses there, Perceval sees that Elijah has his own, as he does.)336

PERCEVAL:
You have a fine horse.337

ELIJAH:
His name is Espirito.. named him myself.. raised him from being a foal. He's a good horse. 338

PERCEVAL:
(Nods and mounts his horse) I really am glad to see you alive Brother.. you have no idea.339

(They ride through the nigt to Forever Holme which is mostly in darkness but for a few oil lamps lighting up the rooms. Perceval unlocks the front door.)340

CUT TO:
Forever Holme, Int Night. 341

(Elijah and Perceval enter quietly and Perceval closes the door quietly so as not to disturb anyone.)342

PERCEVAL:
She's upstairs... this way.343

(Elijah follows Perceval upstairs to the main master bedroom. They enter and see Allie sitting watching over Rachel, and knitting something for the baby.)344

PERCEVAL:
Allie.. I need you to get out...345

ALLIE:
But Master P... (Gasps)346

(Allie stares wide eyed and open mouthed at Elijah who is just behind Perceval)347

ELIJAH:
Good Evening Allie...348

ALLIE:
Eli? By Gods.. is it.. you?349

ELIJAH:
(nods) Aye it is. I have returned to my home.350

PERCEVAL:
A man who you told me was dead. He's alive.. very much alive... 351

ALLIE:
I... had no choice... Master Perceval. 352

(glances back and forth between the two men. Perceval looks downward but says nothing. Elijah shakes her hand and kisses her fingers.)353

ELIJAH:
It is good to be back Allie. I understand what you did and why. Don't worry.. I'll .. talk to him...354

ALLIE:
Eli... I... 355

PERCEVAL:
Go downstairs. Make us a meal. We'll be having dinner.356

ALLIE:
Yes Master Perceval... (turns to Elijah) Its a joy to have you home Eli.. it really is. (wipes a tear)357

(Allie leaves the room. Elijah turns to Perceval.)358

ELIJAH:
Don't punish her Perceval, she did what she felt she had to do.359

PERCEVAL:
Perhaps. It would have been nice to know whether or not my brother was alive though... 360

(There is a long pause. Perceval seems to stare at Elijah and vice versa, as a kind of tension enters their midst.)361

ELIJAH:
Why so wary? 362

(Another long pause)363

PERCEVAL:
Nothing.. it doesn't matter... (closes eyes)364

ELIJAH:
I sense something about you Perceval.. right now.365

PERCEVAL:
I said it doesn't matter.. for Christs sake.. 366

(Perceval walks over to the side of the bed where Rachel lies very pregnant and unconscious.)367

PERCEVAL:
Here she is. The slut... the childs not mine.. I can't feel its thoughts.. I can't connect with it. 368

(Perceval pulls the blankets off Rachel, she doesn't move. Elijah glances at him and then to her and takes a step forward.)369

ELIJAH:
You're very angry Perceval.370

PERCEVAL:
I... went through the ritual... I.. 371

(Perceval appears to be struggling to speak)372

PERCEVAL:
I raped her... mmm.. we.. were supposed to make a Magic Child...373

ELIJAH:
A Magic Child? For the purposes of hosting a Daemon. Isn't it?374

(His voice goes low and quiet as he watches Perceval seem to change.)375

PERCEVAL:
(under his breath) Fuck you... 376

ELIJAH:

Fuck you... and that slut... (feels his anger rising.)378

ELIJAH:
She's not a slut.. she's a woman, carrying your child... and...379

(He finally looks down to her face and is suddenly struck by her beauty and feels the most amazing love enter his heart, strange visions enter his mind, Forever Holme but its different, and they are kissing and she's wearing strange clothes, he can even experience through his thoughts of them making love.. he can hardly speak.)380

ELIJAH:
(gasps) She... 381

(He strokes her arm and can connect and feel the child growing inside of her, he can feel a connection to the child, and this, despite his occult training frightens him somewhat. He pulls back really quickly as if startled. Perceval looks on suspiciously as he realises something. Perceval steps back and seems to withdraw into himself.. starts to hug himself and weep but Elijah cannot draw himself away from the sleeping Rachel and the child inside of her. He touches her again and strokes her head, places a hand upon her stomach and begins to speak in a strange language. Perceval is very angry and his eyes change as if there is a greenish light in them. He walks out of the room and once he does so he precedes to kick the bannisters out of place and kick in doors and punch the walls trying desperately to control the Daemon within... and not succeeding. Back in the room, Elijah continues his healing methods with Rachel. Once finished he sits beside the bed and holds her hand, whispers softly.)382

ELIJAH:
Your name is Rachel Rosemont.. and yet you should be DeCourt... I know it.. I feel it. Who are you...? Why do I feel this way about my brothers wife? I don't understand this... I'm a Rosicrucian Magus and a Gypsy.. but I don't understand this.. I... 383

(one single tear rolls down his face and he wipes it away slowly, a lump forms in his throat.)384

ELIJAH:
I don't know you, yet I felt you... In Paris I felt your presence, and I knew he was hurting you, I knew he was hitting you Rachel. 385

(She awakens slowly and turns to look at him, and sees it is Elijah and seems to remember him.)386

RACHEL:

ELIJAH:

RACHEL:
How could I forget ... Elijah.. Levi DeCourt Rosemont...? (Whispers) Non Omnis Moriar... (breathes deeply) I found you at last... I found you...
