Scarlet Roses [10]

Chapter 10:1

This feeling never leaves you alone, the emptiness that breaks through the most bullet proof shields & walls, that crippling inhibition that can kill the soul. The mindless beasts that consume your life & dreams, your mind wrapped around it's evil little finger. The people slowly dying of the ignorance consuming this fragile earth, the unbroken yet shattered state we all live in. He sat there, burning page after page of hatred & loneliness that had consumed her short & used up life. Her face was carved into his brain, shattering in his head, the broken porcelain shards of her fragile being ripping his heart to shreds.2

"Sister..." he whispered, touching an old portrait that was filled with lying faces.3

"Oh sister, how I miss you, regardless of our shadows & secrets, everything that we once were & everything we had, I loved you sister, I did. You took care of me big sister, I loved you so much, I felt horrid when I learned of your death, your pain was mine, Sister I love you, please forgive me for every thing I did to you. Please Sister, please..." breaking down upon her grave, his home land seemed so far away. Germany seemed so perfect, yet he felt so alone, he cried, hugging her grave. Emmet was a bleeding heart with no stitches left to mend him or bandages to save him. There was nothing left to do but become empty.4

This is a sad but true depiction of the socialite world, the sounds so solemn it breaks one's heart. The waters tumbling from the skies, drowning us all as we collide. Drifting in & out of sleep, we cry through the endless abyss of years, days like minutes & hours like days to break through the empty pace, we are like clocks, stopping only when needed & working only when not, we are hopeless & fearful, cowards in everything we do. Daring all of us to face our fears & of course we shrink back & hide behind them. Pride & prude are most of you, yet none of you are brave enough to stand up for what you are proud of. If you had to give up everything you stood for just to gain something of a seemingly greater value, most of you would, but none would give up anything for a lesser value. It seems like a lecture, but also a slap in the face, a disposition no one aims to see. A solitary color, a thread of black in curtain of white, the diversity is noticeable right away, & the vampyres to humans is just like so. This is what we are living for, a blend, when the black becomes white & white becomes black, when nothing is left to notice & no one is there to care. The blood in this world is spilled like water in a breaking vase. Softly the thoughts will drift away from you, and you'll regain yourself, moving on with your life without thinking about it again.6

"Jerod..." said Francis softly, barely touching the young man's shoulder.7

"I'm fine Francis, just go." he said, not looking up from the headstone that had words etched in deep like worry lines on a mother's face. 8

"You aren't fine." he snapped back at him.9

"How would you know anything Francis? What makes you so amazing & such a brilliant being?"10

"I never said I was."11

"Save it, I'm not going to pretend to care. Go."12

"What's crawled up your ass?" he scuffed & walked away, leaving Jerod alone to sit in the state of being that was not animal nor civil, he was no longer Jerod, he was changed by the tombstone. The words etched in, plain view to the world, he traced over the words with his finger. "Here lies a martyr, a liar, a thief. May he rot in peace." He was throughly saddened by the treatment of the man. Though he knew not of the poor soul, he knew that, if one passes away, they deserve a proper burial. This was a condemnation to hell, not a lovely little sentiment to place upon his headstone. Slowly, he stands, regaining himself & joins the others, not looking at Francis who was desperately trying to get his attention. 13

"Just leave it be, Francis. Just leave it be." he remarked to him as he passed the young man.14

...15

It seems as if something was missing, that even in death there was much to be desired. A body, possibly, or the chance to hold your beloved close once more. Within this dreamland, this empty state of being that leaves a fuzzy taste in your mouth & a sickening scent lingering in your nose, filling your lungs & choking you every time you draw in a breath, you can hear shadows dancing in between life & death. Though there is nothing there you still scream, but you're unheard for there is a lack of ears to hear you & a lack of lungs to scream with. The silence that is choking you, gripping your throat tighter as you begin to see life flash before your emptying eyes, that silence is what's going to end us all. The lack of communication & a lack of better words is your best excuse. This claustrophobic world, drowning you in a sea of never changing faces, all filled with fear & pain, yet none of the faces know what either of the two are or what it means to truly have them. The girl to the right, her mother died when she was 2, she can't describe her mother's face anymore. The man to your right, his wife took his kids from him & now he is caught with the choice of life or death, yet he still lacks the knowledge that comes with having true pain. If this is just it, then what is there left? All that is left is war. If Not War, Then What? If not pain, then what is left? No one on this planet really cares any more. Their well being is their main priority. No one works for the greater good but for the good of themselves only. The Catholics are hypocrites & the Buddhist are killing the earth. Mormons marry more & more everyday while crime rates rise higher & higher. I am not being atheist, merely objective. I am trying to explain myself, yet their is nothing to explain, I have said it all in plain text that any one may read. I am not forcing these ideas on you, only forcing you to think over these ideas. If you please, you can put this down & discontinue reading about the trials & toils of Jocelynn & Jerod, though I advise you push past your selfish thoughts & continue reading this, for it may end up changing the world's mindset, or maybe no more than one person's mindset, but that person may end up being you. The only question here is, do you want to change?16

"Jocelynn?"17

"Yes, Elliott, I am alright, let me go please, you're choking me." he laughed & flashed a face eating grin at Jocelynn then at Emmet to the left of him.18

"The poor old boy thought you were dead, Jocelynn. I didn't tell him otherwise, that would have ruined the fun." he said, chuckling slightly as the amusement softly died down. 19

"That wasn't funny Emmet, you must admit you had stopped moving for those moments, you thought we'd lost her as well."20

"I did not." he said in defense, not argument, proving to the room that he was, in fact, worried.21

"Hush up, both of you. Get me out of these clothes & room, I feel amazing, but very thirsty. Hurry now, I'm not going to wait forever." Emmet laughed as soon as she said it, but she joined in quickly, realizing that she now could wait forever.22

"As you wish." he said, scurrying out of the room to find clothing to fit her.23

"Jocelynn, you look so...beautiful. More than usual, I mean you were so pretty & now you are...you're too gorgeous for words." she blushed, kissing him softly before beginning to hum a song of glee & blissfulness.24

"Here you go Jocelynn, these should fit. We'll leave so you can get changed." he said, pulling Elliott out by the neck.25

"Owww! Do you realize that you could break my neck if you squeezed any harder?!"26

"Yes, I know." he said smugly. 27

"When I get turned-"28

"If. If you get turned."29

"If I get turned, first thing I'm going to do is punch you out."30

"I highly doubt that, you'll be thirsty. I'm surprised Jocelynn hasn't drained you yet. She needs to hunt soon, so she'll be going for a few days."31

"I realized that."32

"Good." he said as Jocelynn came out of the room, changed & clean. 33

"I feel much better, thank you Emmet." she said, grabbing Elliott's hand while following Emmet out if the medical ward, saying goodbye to the nurses & doctors. 34

"They are a useless bunch, the lot of them." remarked Emmet upon exit.35

"Extremely." agreed Jocelynn & Elliott. 36

"Where's my brother?"37

"Ah, yes, I'm going to take you to him soon. Elliott has judgment being passed tomorrow, you'll be with Jerod."38

"But I want to be here for Elliott."39

"No. You need to hunt before you kill him. Don't defy me, Jocelynn, I know what is best."40

"Fine." she said in an aggravated tone.41

"Good girl, now come on, I'll show you your new room." he said, turning down the long hall & down a short set of stairs to a doorway the opened up to what would equal a large flat. It was all cream colored walls & bricks. There was a large bed to one side & small tables next to it on either side. It had a fainting couch & upon the neatly made bed lay rich gold sheets. The large down blanket was a crisp white & upon the bed laid red pillows. The bed was made of thickly carved mahogany that was stained very darkly, standing out greatly against the deep gold sheets & white blanket. There was a beautiful desk that's stain matched the color of the bed, next to it was a large bookshelf that was filled fully with what seemed like every book published up until that point. On the wall hung a painting that seemed very Di Vinci, framed in gold & hung with pride. The room was spectacular & outrageous. Jocelynn stood with her mouth hanging wide open, she had never seen such a beautiful room. 42

"Do you like it, Jocelynn?"43

"Oh, I do, very much so."44

"Elliott & I, we worked on it for a while, Jerod too, he found the bed & mirror." Then she saw it, there upon the far wall hung a large mirror framed in the same mahogany as the bed, book shelf, & desk.45

"Oh Emmet, Elliott, I cannot thank you enough. It's so pretty. I love it, thank you so very much!" she said, sitting in the high backed chair under the desk.46

"I'm so glad you like it." said Elliott with a smile.47

"I love it, Elliott!"48

"Well, I love you, Jocelynn. I highly think that my love wins."49

"I love you too, Elliott." she said, smiling still. All she needed now was her brother & Esme & her family would all be together.
