Temple of the Sphere: Chapter 6

Dax had fallen asleep next to the pit under the black sky. Sonya sat in the hole with piles of red dirt on top of her. Slowly the dirt was turning into stone and with each breath it became difficult for her to breathe.1

She closed her eyes; her right hand began to tingle. Sonya tried to move but the prickly feeling moved up her arm. She inhaled one huge breath as her arm filled up with pain.2

Then a huge blue light began to over take the red stone as the pain eased; Sonya’s breathing became easier. Next she moved her left arm and then her legs. She stood up; then dusted off the blue dust from her long green dress.3

Sonya looked up to see that Dax was still asleep. She glanced down at her right hand; as the light shined through her fist. Carefully she opened her hand as the blue diamond sparkled.4

“What is this?” she whispered.5

“A gift from the Creator,” Radiance whispered in her ear.6

Sonya took a couple of steps to the wall; ran her hand down the smooth surface. Observing the blue diamond as it fade away, then she stepped back to the middle of the pit and the diamond glowed.7

Okay, the only way is up and I can’t climb. Once I reach the top, I’m going to have to fight with Dax. But how do I get out of here? I can use my implants… but how? 8

She closed her eyes and went deep into her mind. Images of circles and tiny balls came to her as the green light danced in them and flew all around her.9

“Come to me!” she ordered.10

“We obey the Masters!” they laughed.11

“Come to me!”12

“No!”13

The images were intense as the pain raced up her spine. The blue diamond’s light began to glow again; then it hovered over her right hand, and flew to her neck. The diamond stood in the upright position in the air. A hatch opened as a long yellow chain popped out, and attached itself around her neck. The diamond slowly landed on her skin.14

A huge blue light engulfed her as Sonya opened her eyes and flew out of the pit. Her feet landed on the ground next to Dax. 15

Suddenly, Dax jumped; Sonya stepped backwards away from him. One of his paws came towards her. She took her hand and grabbed his claw as he balanced in the air. Sonya took a step forward; he fell to the dirt.16

“You think you’re so powerful?” he growled at her.17

“No. Why does your Mistress want me?”18

“My only job is to obey her!” He charged at her.19

Sonya blasted two blue rays out of her fists. The rays entered Dax's eyes as he shook and stomped. His horns dropped into the pit and his slimy skin was peeling off layer by layer as he tripped and fell into the pit. Boom!20

Sonya looked up to see a huge ball of fire coming from the sky. She fled into the forest. The ball was crackling in her ears as her skin began to burn. Now the ball of fire was right in front of her; she stopped.21

“What do you want from me?” Sonya asked.22

“I want you!” 23

It shot out huge flames; a blue light surrounded her as the flames and stopped them from hurting Sonya. Next, she raised up her arms and then a huge ball of blue light came out of her wrists. The light hit the ball of fire; Sonya covered up her eyes.24

“You think your little tricks can stop me?”25

The ball of fire grew bigger, Sonya uncovered her eyes. The huge vines grabbed her arms and then her feet as they lifted her from the ground. She pulled, kicked, and wiggled her body trying to free herself from them. The ball of fire floated to Sonya in the tree tops. 26

“You got me. Now what?” Sonya asked.27

“You’re my prisoner, May-High!”28

“I’m not a May-High!”29

“You’ve the smell of Draco on you.”30

“So what! I’m not May-High!” She struggled with the vines.31

“I know that smell of Draco. There’s only one way that a woman would get that smell.”32

Sonya yanked her arms and legs as the vines grew tighter.33

“Go head and struggle on. You are mine now! And Dax needs a mate.”34

“Your mad!”35

“I’m full of surprises!”36

Sonya watched the ball of fire and it became larger and larger as it came closer to her. White long arrows raced from the ground and strike at the ball of fire. It floated away from Sonya; headed to the ground below. A bright white light lit up the ground and the ball of fire vanished.37

The vines unwrapped themselves from her arms and legs as a cold wind rushed all around her. A huge strong hand grabbed her arm as she opened her eyes. Throne pulled her onto Hugo while the tiger hovered in the air.38

“There must be a full moon tonight?”39

“Yes Sonya, there is.” He chuckled to himself.40

Hugo landed softly on the dirt, Sonya looked up, and grasped Throne’s arm.41

“I don’t like heights!”42

“That’s what my arm is telling me.”43

Sonya turned her head as she looked into his deep brown eyes that were glowing in the moonlight. She slid off from Hugo; stepped backwards from them.44

“You tried to rape me!”45

“Sonya…”46

“No. You stay there. I’m not going any where with you!”47

“You can have a whip. So, you can whip me for my punishment?” he chuckled.48

“This isn’t funny! You think that a woman is a piece of meat, and here for your pleasure! Let me tell you. I’m not here for your pleasure!”49

“Who saved you from the ball of fire?” He took his thumb and pointed at himself. “Me!” as he slid off Hugo.50

“You’re soldier of hire! You do anything for rubies!”51

Throne walked over to her; and glazed into her green eyes as they revealed her wounded soul.52

“I am sorry for everything. I won’t hurt you again.”53

Sonya looked into his dark deep brown eyes as warmth sparkled in the moonlight.54

“I will go with you.” She walked back to him. “Why did you save me this time?”55

“Because your Creator told me and that I felt that I owe you one too.”56

“I see,” she said as she grabbed Hugo’s fur.57

Throne placed his hands on her waist and picked her up to place her on Hugo’s back; then he jumped on the tiger.58

“May I place my arm around your waist?” he whispered in her ear.59

“Of course.”60

Throne slid his arm around her waist as he pressed his leg on Hugo’s side. The tiger took off running to find the road.61

“Where are we going?” Sonya asked.62

“There’s a border town beyond this forest. We will stay there for a few days.”63

Hugo found the road that led the way out of the forest. The bright yellow stars and the full moon lit up the night sky. Throne, Sonya and Hugo were on the way to the border town.64

  • Throne is back! I kind of like him...but I kind of don't. He's an interesting character and I'm happy to see him back. You have a pleasant flow going!

This is such a great tale. What I love most is the fact a reader can pick it up at this point and just read, not really knowing what has come before.
(Of course the earlier chapters are needed but at least the action and what is here would make a good short story.)
1 You have "turning into stone" Believe the word you want is, "in."

37 "White long arrows raced--" This sounds a little stilted. Possibly, "Long, white arrows---"

    47 "any where" (anywhere)

My major complaint is that you stopped to soon.

A lot of action and dialogue, so even if the reader hasn’t been involved with the whole story they can follow the activity without a problem.

You put this chapter together nicely. A lot of action and dialogue, so even if the reader hasn’t been involved with the whole story they can follow the activity without a problem.

I take it Dax is a monster; Sonya is attempting to escape from. She goes through a ritual involving the blue diamond that release her from the pit that is killing her, and gives her power.

Dax’s mistress for some reason desires to possess Sonya. She’s the one who took her from Draco. I remember reading that chapter where he gave the May-Highs’ over to slavery. Sonya had been stolen then. Hope I’m following this correctly.

Throne is a hero come to rescue Sonya. You did a splendid job with the give and take humor and dialogue at the end.

You might want to look at a few things.

Slowly the dirt was turning into stone and with each breath it became( difficult) more difficult for her to breathe.

(It shot out huge flames; a blue light surrounded her as the flames and stopped them from hurting Sonya.) ? It shot out huge flames; a blue light surrounded her and stopped them from hurting Sonya

. (The ball of fire floated to Sonya in the tree tops.) The ball of fire floated Sonya to the tree tops.

    “(Your) You’re mad!”35

White long arrows raced from the ground (and) to strike at the ball of fire.

( It floated away from Sonya; headed to the ground below. A bright white light lit up the ground and the ball of fire vanished.) ground echoes. Why not use earth for the last one.

    Sonya turned her head as she looked into his deep brown eyes that were glowing in the moonlight. She slid off (from) of Hugo;

Sonya looked into his dark deep brown eyes (as warmth) as their warmth sparkled in the moonlight.

“Because your Creator told me and ( that) I felt that I owe you one too.”56

Throne slid his arm around her waist as he pressed his (leg on) legs in Hugo’s side.

    A fun read,
