Innocence

A short candle dripping with honey colored wax suspended the room is gold, fluctuating light. It seemed the cold shadows of the late hour outside and the passionate warmth within the house were battling for dominance and control.1

The floor around the bed was covered in clothes that had been thrown aside in the hurry. The pungent raspberry incense she had lit was still burning, and somehow, it added to the situation. “Innocence lost” suddenly ran through his mind.2

On the bed, they lay in each other’s arms. She was curled into him, head on his chest, burying deep into the covers for warmth and an even deeper closeness. His eyes were closed as he gently stroked her short red hair, inhaling the scent of her. They were silent for some time after it had happened, and for a minute her dark brown eyes fluttered open, wondering if he was still awake.3

She decided to break the silence.4

“So,” she began in that same nervous way, shifting a bit to get more comfortable on his chest. “THAT'S what it feels like to have sex.” 5

The boy’s lips curved into a wide smile, and he couldn’t help but laugh at her. She was always so direct, so specific and awestruck. It was one of the many things he loved about her. And he had tried his best to make their first night no less than perfect for her.6

“Yup,” he replied. Their hands met behind her head and their fingers interlaced. “How was your first time?”7

The young girl thought about it for a minute. Her hands clutched tighter at the small amount of blanket she was holding. At first glance she looked a bit sad and confused, but then every woman does after her first time. Then she moved like water, bringing her head off his chest and placing a hand against his cheek, staring deep into warm amber eyes. He rarely saw her this serious.8

“It couldn’t have been better.”9

The boy smiled at her again, and for a moment, they shared the same smile. He moved forward a bit to kiss her forehead, hand entangling in her hair. Then they snuggled into the bed again, into each other, and waited for dawn.

Author notes

I was watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and came to the episode Graduation Day. A lot of things from that episode inspired me, but I loved the scene where Willow and Oz are together for the first time. That's the main thing that inspired this short little scenario. Hope you like it, peace!
