A long time ago, there was a planet. A blue and green planet. On that planet, lived a very advanced type of human. They were called the Apocadroids. They lived very happily for many many centuries. But soon enough, some trouble started. They were using up the resources, creating industrial blabbity-blah, etc. Until one day, the planet came to a complete stop. It slowly started to 'melt', and people were freaking out. They tried everything to stop it from rotting. All the buildings started to shake, and they came crashing down. It was pure mayhem. Fire, people screaming and running, buildings falling over, just chaos. Everyone on the planet died. It was forgotten.1
One million years later, a boy named Jacob sits outside with his telescope. He is fascinated by astronomy, and wants to work with NASA when he is older. He looks through his telescope, and spots Mars. "I wonder what it's like up there..." he said to himself. "That's crazy talk Jacob, you'll never get to know." says his little sister Anna. "Says who?" he snaps. "The world." she replies coolly. Jacob looks up again and sighs. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

I can see where you can take this and I think its a good theme.
It was rathy choppy at the beginning and it detracts from the second portion. When no people are alive how does it become "Forgotten" Your second story line is sufficient to lead to discovery of a forgotten civilization. Try to finish it I'd like to read it.language: 2, plot: 3, ending: 3, dialog: 4, characters: 5.
