An Unfamiliar Path

The day is fading from the light, while dusk is inviting1

the dark night to arrive.I take my walk on my normal path.2

Knowing every turn, every bump, every little change is predictable;3

due to the fact I've been here many times of my past and present.4

I can't help but stop for a moment and admire the beauty that was5

painted above, leaving me speechless:6

Sunset over a rich, flat land of green just to bid farewell.7

Golden beams streaming straight out above the land and sky.8

Light that accents the shapes of clouds with a seam of golden lining, giving more elegance than hoped to witness.9

This would be the time called a "Kodak moment."10

Knowing my luck, I do not have a device to capture the beauty in front of me....so that I may always remember the good things11

in life, and to always treasure them.12

Continuing on my path....I spot something different - an unfamiliar branched road from the path I'm on. Such excitement fills my spirit.13

Where does it lead? What will I find? Will I gain knowledge from this road?14

Suspense of never traveling or spotting such an adventure waiting to be taken...I couldn't hold back.15

Step by step, I followed where my feet took me. Trees grew thicker in number, but smaller in size. The smell of pine was everywhere and sounds of nature took the place of vehicles passing by. A sudden rush of peace overflowed my heart and mind, still walking along the unfamiliar path.16

The new type of day was taking place....the night. Shadows followed moving subjects scurrying along the ground....trying to get home, safe from the creatures that settle in the night. Deeper I walked into the soon to be forest of the white mountains that everyone talks about but never seen.17

Not too long after finding this path of ancient peace, the only light source was the bright moon, hovering over me as a light to guide my way. To see the sky in a different scene was amazing at the little timing it took to change. The stars twinkling like it's their time to shine of fame....though none surpassing the fullness of the shine surrounding the moon above.18

Regretting to look at the time, I had to leave such a place only imaginable in my dreams. "I shall return," I promised myself.19

Not wanting to leave, but business comes before pleasure.20

Why do I have to work the day I discover such a treasure I do not wish to loose? 21

(sigh is released)22

Heading home....I make a memory on the elegance that was bestowed in front of me: once an unfamiliar path, now a journey I wish to return to. All night I'll be wondering..."will I stumble this branched path again, and regain such a peace in mind?"23

I sure plan on it.24

Author notes

I was taking my walk for the day and never noticed a path on the side of the road...and what a discover I made. I know why everyone loves the white mountains (though it's not white until is snows...LOL) You learn something new everyday.

    This was quite enchanting and interesting. Your use of language in this story is novel and adds to the tone and atmosphere;

' To see the sky in a different scene was amazing at the little timing it took to change. The stars twinkling like it's their time to shine of fame....though none surpassing the fullness of the shine surrounding the moon above.'

The style of your expression took me into the mood you felt more effectively than standard english would have done. It would be useful to employ this talent for expression in narrative of characters' thoughts in another story, varying it for different character types, or using it solely for the narrator.
