Some Dreams

Dicey would always dream. She would dream during class, while she played her cello, dream through anything. Yet the dreams were always just dreams.1

The dreams Dicey had were never extravagant or extraordinary. She would usually dream of one of two things. Often the dreams were of herself singing. Dicey was not very musical, she wasn't great at singing or her cello. She loved to sing. Mostly it was just the same few songs, a new one was added when Dicey found one she really loved. Then again, it doesn't really matter what you sing when you aren't very good.2

Dicey would also dream of Some Boy. Some Boy was in her class, one of Dicey's best "guy friends". These dreams were never explicit, just dreams that frayed reality a little. Some Boy was nice, and technically, he was single. Of course, as things worked in the real world, Some Boy was obsessed with Some Girl. And of course, some girl was going out with one of Dicey's other guy friends.3

Sometimes there were dances in Dicey's town. The songs were always blasted really loud, so Dicey sang to the few she knew. She wasn't very good with rap and hip-hop. One night; Dicey, Some Boy and some girl were all at one of the dances. Dicey was talking to Some Boy, maybe with the possibility of asking him to dance, when some girl left the room. Some Boy followed her.4

Dicey watched him leave, her head tilted a little, and sighed. She went to go dance with her friends.5
