Little Woods

1

In the Little Woods, a scrawny seven year wearing a tatted flowery dress, she is sitting on the knee of a handsome man dressed in a military uniform.   Playing with his glove she asks, “Pa Pa why are we here?” A kind soft gentle voice, “We are having a picnic.” He gives her some candy. 2

Gentle caring voice, “What would you like to be when you grow up?”  “A doctor” she answers with dreamy eyes. “A doctor like me, you want to help cure the world from diseases?”  She nods her head as she pops another candy in her mouth. 3

It is a beautiful sunny spring morning; birds are chirping, yellow flowers carpeted the little wood’s floor, fingers of light are flittering through these tall trees tops. A blue butterfly flutters by; the doctor catches it in his hand, and shows it to the flowery dressed girl. 4

“Do you think they are pretty?” he asks, she nods head as watches the beautiful butterfly, flap her wings. A father’s voice asks, “Why do beautiful creatures live short lives?”  “I don’t know,” the girl replies while curiously watching the beautiful blue butterfly in his hand. A kind voice asks, “Would you like to be a butterfly?” she nods her head, his breath blows the butterfly into the air, the flowery dressed girl watches it fly away. 5

The tall officer stands and holds out his hand. “Come, let us see if we can find more butterflies.” She holds his hand and the two begins to take a slow stroll through the little woods. They stop and watch ants build their nest higher. “It is going the rain and that is why they are working so hard.” He said softly.  The flowery dressed girl looks up in the sky; she can see no rain clouds.6

She walks beside him holding his hand, looking at all the sights of her surroundings. They come to a dark dirty building, two men in uniform walks over to them, one statues and said. “Morning Herr Mengle, all is ready.” 7

He throws the little flowery dressed girl at the men in black, in a sarcastic tone he said. “We have another one who wishes to become a butterfly.” She cries “but Pa Pa!” He smiles and said in a carefree tone. “You wanted to be a butterfly and now you will become a char hole butterfly.” The girl in the tattered flowery dress is crying as Mengle said to the two officers. “Burn this little Jewish shit.”  8

This was a strange story. I was really into it throughout as it seemed so sweet and the questions seemed pretty innocent to me, so I had no idea about the twist at the end. I was shocked, and it was really sad too. The last line had inpact but I thought maybe some people might take it the wrong way, what with the 'Jewish' part. Overall it was an interesting turn out. Good luck and thanks for entering x

    whoa. dude. unexpected turn. lol
that rocks so hard. you knew that her "pa pa" was gonna turn on her. u could just feel it, like, in the way he spoke, you could feel the distance, and her never ending trust. damn this was good. it hurt at the end, like, a sting. the last line was amazingly powerful. jut, wow all around. boy have i got competition.
