Monologue # Ten - Trouble in love

"Jenny dinners ready" Mrs Morley shouted , knocking on her door.

"Door's unlocked Mum, you don't have to yell".

Mrs Morley opened the door, closing it behind her and walked over to were Jenny was writing on her bed.

Jenny closed her notebook, siting up, she knew what was coming.

"So what do you think of Bobby".

Jenny laughed "Mum your so predictable sometimes it's just sad".

Mrs Morley frowned "Well I'm just making sure your not still upset with us after last nights little spat and all, you had us a little worried".

Jenny shrugged "I'm over it trust me, he is really nice, and friendly, not to mention awesome, he thinks my poem was superb, not that he said that exactly but he was speechless, so I think that pretty much explains itself".

Mrs Morley's frown disappeared, and was replaced with a smile "Is that so" she said raising her eyebrows at Jenny.

Jenny watched her mother, her smile turning somewhat into a cheeky grin. "What's that look for ? Jenny asked starting to unnerved by her mothers presence.

She laughed "Nothing , nothing at all, don't worry".

Jenny shook her head "You know how much I hate it when people do that, just say it Mum".

Mrs Morley nodded "Well I was just wondering if you might have a little crush on him, thats all".

Jenny screwed up her nose "What the hell, why would you think that, your insane I tell you".

"Am I really , so you can't honestly say that you don't have even just the slightest crush on Bobby".

Jenny shook her head "He's like Twenty- Five Mum, not to mention one of Dad's work mates and friends".

Mrs Morley laughed "Your point being exactly ?, God when I was your age I had a major thing for older men, mainly because the boys my age where a little immature, but it's okay to have crushed on older men Jenny, just as long as their not to old like forty or something , cause then I would be a little worried".

Jenny frowned "You scare me sometimes Mum, and I just don't feel that way about Bobby, he's nice and all, but just not my type at all".

Mrs Morley stood up, straightening the bed "So what is your type Jenny I am intrigued, you've never once told me anything relating to crushes and that worries me".

Jenny lay back on her bed , frustrated she threw her hands in the air "Worried, why, is it a crime to never have feelings for anyone".

Mrs Morley shook her head "Well I don't know, for all I know you could be a lesbian, I mean it's a shame I guess that I have never had to give you the birds and the bees talk like a normal parent".

Jenny sat up "My God, I'm not a lesbian Mum, and were not normal, we have morals and values, which is why I don't feel the need to put my feelings into someone, especially when I know it's all going to be a waste of time".

Mrs Morley frowned "You mean loves a waste of time?

Jenny shook her head " For people like you and Dad it's not, but for people like me it is , it's one big mass of broken hearts , hopes and dreams, and why would I want any of that".

Cynical, but true half of the time... I like where this is going and the open conversation that Jenny and her mom have between them... would have been nice if my mom or dad gave me a headsup on women.. hehe

I like how your story is developing, but I am a little confused about Bobby. Why would an older man need to stay at Jenny's when he should be at home with his parents? Anyway, I am enjoying how Jenny is developing into a multifaceted person with tons of emotion!

I was laughing and nodding when Jenny told her mom what she thought of love. She's an easy going girl, who sticks to one principle and one only. It's nice, I like the fact you put a lot more character into Jenny =)
