Rose Petals

Summary: Its been a year since the dark tournament to decide the new ruler of Demon word, and with its new ruler established life for the former spirit detectives has become peaceful and normal again. But with emergence of a powerful demon the boys are called back to help Spirit world, during the final battle after destroying the demon peace was once again restored and boys returned to normal school and home life.

The sound of an alarm clock buzzed loudly in the room of the now high school Shuichi Minamono AKA Kurama as he reached over with a slight moan and turned the alarm off as he leaned up wincing some at the pain in his shoulder. Two months had passed since that battle with the demon that nearly toppled Spirit World, and all four of the boys were still healing, even Hiei who never took long to heal was still healing himself in Mukuro's fortress somewhere. Swinging his legs out of bed as he feet touched the cool floor he leaned over his long red locks falling over his shoulder. Another day of school, winter break would start soon that much he was glad for, he could finally have some time to actually rest and recover his strength.

Standing slowly he walked into his bathroom having his normal hot shower to relax his muscles as he walked back into his room and got dressed. His former red School uniform was now switched out for a full black one, with a white button down long sleeve shirt for the cooler seasons and a short sleeve one for the warmer seasons. sitting down on his bed he took a hold of his brush and ran it through his hair fixing it so that it he looked presentable.

A knock would come at his door later, he already knowing who it was smiled and slipped his socks on. "Yes mother I'm already up. You can come in I'm dressed" He said seeing the woman he had become to know as mother walked in.

"How are you feeling? Is your shoulder any better?" She asked a bit worried.

"Yes its a little better, I'll put some medicine on it before I leave." He replied smiling.

To his mother he had pulled a muscle lifting some rather heavy equipment at School to get ready for the winter festival, when in reality, it was a still healing injury from the battle with that huge demon. He hated to lie to her like that, but better have her worry over something minor like lifting heavy equipment than have her freak out about her only son fighting a demon that could take up half of the city.

"Breakfast is ready, or you gonna have the normal juice and toast?" She asked smiling.

Looking over at his clock Shuichi smiled some nodding. "I have time before I have to leave breakfast sounds wonderful." He said smiling as he got his school books ready and put them in his bag as he walked downstairs with his mother and set his bag by the door and walked into the kitchen sitting down with his mother as the two enjoyed breakfast together.

After Breakfast Shuichi gave his mother a small kiss on the cheek as he waved to her grabbing his bag as he left, making his way to  school. After a while of walking Shuichi frowned some sensing a demonic presence as he walked from the path he normally took down an alley soon coming to a dead end as he turned.

"Alright show yourself, who are you and what do you want?" He asked frowning seeing a demon appear.

"Why you of course....you killed my brother and now I must pay you back in return." The demon hissed holding up his clawed hand slashing at Kurama as Kurama frowned summoning his rose whip jumping into the air and flicked it at the demon cutting him in half as he landed.

"Sorry but I don't have time for fighting." He said frowning seeing the demon look up as it screamed creating a sonic boom as Kurama was sent flying back and cried out in pain feeling a few needles cut into his skin as the demon disappeared.

"Nnn...what in the world?" He asked frowning as he stood seeing the needles had disappeared as he moaned getting back up.

"Just what I need more injuries." He muttered dusting himself off and walking off going to school.

"Hey Shuichi." A familiar voice said as Shuichi looked over his shoulder wincing some running his fingers along one of the needle holes and massaged his shoulder.

"You actually called me by my human name today Kwuabara." He said smiling as Kwuabara ran up and put his arm around Shuichi's shoulder gently.

"Hey you ok? I sensed a funny presence nearby." He said.

Shuichi blinked and nodded some. "Yes I'm fine, a small demon got out of the barrier and I had a run in with it..." He said walking inside with Kwarbabra as the two went their separate ways and went to class.

The day dragged on as normal, English, followed by algebra, history, and finally what gave Kurama a chance to stretch his muscles, Physical ED. They were pole vaulting, Shuichi as normal having tops in his class. Next was the high jump, some of the track stars were able to clear the bar no problem while the others had difficulty. Kurama having done his fair share of jumping cleared the bar as the class ended. By the end of the day when School got out Shuichi walked back home not seeing the demon around. Walking inside his hose he looked around shutting the door not seeing his mother around.

"Must have left for her trip already." He said setting his bag down as a sudden tired feeling came over him and he walked upstairs to his room laying down. However unknown to him his body was going through several changes,he would wake up later that evening frowning as he sat up feeling strange.

"Nnn...that was a nice nap." Shuichi said noticing a change in his voice.

"Was that...me?" He asked getting out of bed and going to his mirror as he looked at himself as his eyes widened. "No...."
