In the past chapters: Claw had kidnapped Fredrick and killed Mr. Dimes. So she could bring Michael Knight into the picture. Michael took by the police for questioning about the murder of Mr. Dimes. He had breakfast with Helen and then left to meet Jamie. He picked her up and took Jamie back to her hotel.1
Michael returned to the garage. The sunlight beat down on KITT that made him glow in the parking space. He pulled the door handled and then opened the door to sit down. KITT shut the door for him as Michael turned the key and put the gearshift into reverse, as the car backed out of the parking space. Michael gripped the steering wheel, pulled down the gearshift into drive, while KITT analyzed the data on Helen. 2
He fixed the air vent to feel the cool air. “KITT, how did Jamie know I had on Helen's perfume?” “3
I don't know, Michael, but humans can have rare abilities in their five senses.” KITT adjusted the temperature for him. 4
He rubbed his hands together. “There's something more about her.” 5
“Maybe it is because she is the first girl that has refused you besides Bonnie.” 6
Michael leaned back in his seat. “Bonnie and I are close friends, and that was by her choice, pal.” He paused. “Jamie is different.” 7
“You say about every girl that you like who isn't trying to kill you.”8
“Some days you're no fun, pal.” He let out a huge sigh. 9
“If you quit gripping my steering wheel so hard, I might be, Michael.” 10
Michael took his hands off the wheel. “Sorry, you're very touching, today.” 11
He pushed autopilot button that was to his right, next, he settled back in his seat and tried to relax with the air conditioner on. Michael closed his eyes while sleep overtook his body. KITT darken the windows, adjusted Michael's seat as he drove himself to the next destination. 12
~13
KITT arrived at Security Investigations Services’ office. He turned into the parking lot and found a place to park. Michael woke up as soon as he stopped moving. 14
“KITT, who do I need to talk to?” 15
“Mr. Gray, he is the owner.” 16
Michael opened the door to step out into the bright sunny day. He reached for his black leather jacket; next, he put it on. Then he opened up his jacket, pulled out his sunglasses to place them on his face while he walked towards the building. 17
Once he entered the high-rise building, he removed his sunglasses. A nice-looking secretary looked over Michael from head to toe. He gave her a nice smile as he walked over to the high tan counter to her. 18
“Hello there,” she said with a big smile. 19
He glazed into her eyes and gave a huge grin. “Hello, my name is Michael Knight, and I'd like to speak to Mr. Gray.” 20
She played with her long brown hair. “Do you have an appointment?” 21
“No. It is about a case that I'm working on that involves one of his employees.” 22
“I see. Just wait for a moment. Could you have a seat over there?” 23
“Anything for a pretty lady like you.” He gave another smile and walked away to have a seat. 24
She picked up her phone and whispered into it. “Mr. Knight, he will see you now,” she said as she pointed to the door behind her. 25
Michael arose from his seat, walked to the office and gave her another smile. He entered into the office as a short man, who wore a three-piece gray suit. The man stood behind the light brown desk. Michael walked over to him to shake his hand. He shook Michael’s hand. 26
“I'm Mr. Gray. How can I help you?” 27
Michael took his seat and stunned how short this man was. “I'm Michael Knight.” 28
“We have two things in common are our height. You get the tall jokes, and I get the short jokes.” He walked to a small maple wooden cart that matched his desk. “You would you like some water, Mr. Knight?” 29
“Yes and you're right, Mr. Gray,” he said, as he trying to hold back his chuckles and the joke had put Michael at ease. He poured the water into two short glasses. “You told my secretary your case involves one of my employees?” Mr. Gray walked to him and gave him his glass. 30
“Yes. I work for the Foundation for Law and Government. My case has lead to you and Helen Smith.” He took a sip. 31
Mr. Gray leaned on his huge maple desk. “Helen…” He gave a puzzle look on his face. 32
“Yes. I'm not sure how she fits into my case.” Michael took another drink of the water. 33
Mr. Gray set his glass down, and stared at a picture that hung by the door.“To be quite honest, I know you by your reputation. I'm not sure how Helen fits in at all?” 34
Michael looked at the walls; he noticed that the pictures were scenes of places like the beach and the countryside. “What case is she working on?” 35
“You don't know.” He turned while from Michael. “Three weeks ago we found her body. Her body was…” He looked into Michael’s eyes. “The only way to identify her was by a new test that used DNA; I received the results today.” He gripped his glass.36
“I'm so sorry. How did she die?” 37
“Torture, she vanished on her day off. It took us four days to find Helen. Who ever did it to her placed her body where we would find it.” 38
“You've no idea who did that to her.” He raised an eyebrow. 39
“Some… Not sure. How does she play into your case?” 40
“Someone has taken her identity and is now using it.” 41
Michael watched Mr. Gray's face turned bright red. “That's makes me so angry.” 42
“I hate to ask, but I need to get all the information that I can.” 43
Mr. Gray pushed a button on his phone. “Kay, I need a copy of Helen's file.” He looked up at Michael. “Helen has no family.” 44
“How do you get your people?” 45
He took another sip from the glass. “Ex-agents come from the F.B. I and the C.I.A. or high-level government's work that is top secret. Helen worked for the P.A.C. overseas in Europe. She loved her job that made her the best,” Mr. Gray said with a smile. 46
“P.A.C. who are they?” 47
“Peace Alliance Center, their mission was to bring peace within the countries owns laws, a noble cause that was taken over by power.”48
“I see. Helen was an agent.”49
“No. She was an operative on a highly trained team. That's all I really know most of it is still top secret.”50
Mr. Gray’s secretary walked in with the file. Michael turned his head to see that she had a great pair of legs. She handed the file to him. He opened the folder and there was her phone number. 51
“Thank you.” 52
Kay gave him a wink as she turned around to leave. 53
“Michael, please stop her murderer. She was a wonderful woman.” 54
Michael rose to his feet, placed the glass on the desk, and shook Mr. Gray's hand. “I will do my best.”55
“If you need any help, please call me day or night.”56
“You'll be the first call I make.” 57
Michael turned towards the door and walked out of his office with the danger level still rising in his gut. He gave a wave to Kay as he walked out of the waiting room. Michael stood in the hallway to glance over the information. 58
“Tigress…” he mumbled, as he closed the file and headed for KITT. 59
~60
Fredrick strapped to the hospital bed as he looked around to see the monitors and IV bags going into his arm. In the cold room, the only light came from a single lamp on the other side of the room. 61
His body felt like it weighed a ton. He listened for any sounds nothing except the beeping monitors. A door opened a brunette-head-nurse walked in with a metal tray in her hands. The nurse marched over and placed the tray on a table near his bed. 62
“You're awake! I'm Amy, your nurse,” she said with a smile on her face. 63
“What happened?” 64
She pulled up a white blanket to his neck. “Oh dear, you don't remember. You were on a mission…most of your team was lost in an explosion…” 65
He fought against the restrains that held him to the bed. “No!” 66
“Shh, it is all right.” She moved the blanket to hold his hand. “We need to find Tigress.” Amy placed her other hand on his face.67
“You lie! The last thing I remember, I was at the warehouse!” He yelled. 68
“Listen to me.” Amy looked into his eyes. “Your mind created a story because the truth is too hard for you to accept.” 69
“Liar, liar! No more lies! No more lies! No more lies!” 70
“Fredrick…” Amy removed her hands to pick up the syringe and placed it in the IV tube. 71
“Mary had a little lamb…” He continued to mumble. “Mary had a little lamb…” Fredrick fell asleep. 72
Amy placed the syringe on the tray, picked up the phone, and dialed a number. 73
“Yes. He is still fighting the drugs.” Amy paused to watch Fredrick. “I understand, sir.” She hung up the phone, walked over to the sofa to lie down. She closed her eyes and went to sleep.74
