Reasons.

I write because
there's things in my head
that will never be heard
unless they are written
in poetry or prose.

I write because
the only way I understand myself
is if I express myself.

I write because
words coming from my tongue
fail in comparison
to the ones coming from my fingers.

I write because
every phase of my life needs explaining
and all my thoughts
can't stay in my head forever,
can they?

I write because
I appreciate every form of art
be it writing, drawing, dancing, singing...

I write because I know what it is like
to have things bottled up and how it feels
when everything explodes within you.

Need I truly explain
why I write?

I write, therefore I am.

Author notes

Yes, I stole the last line from Descartes`. Sort of...well, his quote was, "I think, therefore I am." But, hey, this poem's about writing xD

~I write because I'll die if I don't~
Tch, obviously

Luffs forever,
Sibyyy<3

This is a REALLY great write. I can relate to it. I feel the same way because the only way I can tell my true emotion is from poetry. Otherwise I am confused and all bottled up. Poetry is an amazing way to express yourself. This is also why I write. I like this peice so when I find out you name on storywrite I'm gonna read more of them. Anyway great jod. Keep writing and good luck in the contest. =)

      I'm glad you can empathize
Writing truly is a work of art that you have to experience to actually understand.

Erm, would you like to know my name now?

This was great. I do think that in some places where you went to a new line, it broke the poem where it didn't need to be broken. When you're righting a poem, placement of your words has a lot to do with how well the poem flows. Since you are expressing why you love something so much, breaking a sentece in the wrong spot seems a little harsh.
    For example:
"I write because I know<---a break there ruins the flow~
what it is like to have things bottled up
and how it feels when everything explodes within you."
It must seem like I didn't liek your poem, trust me, if I didn't like it I wouldn't write so much on helping you improve. I think the poem was Great, please don't get the wrong idea. You said you are open for critisism. I'd like to think of this as more of a suggestion, critisizing seems I need you to change something for my approval, which you don't.
As long as you are truely happy with your poem, and like the way it flows, think that the words fit nicely together and express what it is that you're trying to express, that should be all that matters. Poetry is about wrting what and how you want to write, no poem is ever wrong, remeber that.
    Don't stop writing,
    bye

Indeed, we write to control ourselves and to let the ink flow from our souls and dip deep within passion and scratch the surface of ignorance, to come out of this empty shell of emotion ~

    Very nicely put, Yume ~

This is awesome =] You write therefore I am awesome loved it all. Great reasons for writing as well, getting things down can take away the pressure of those silly things we call emotions and stash away from our voices.

Keep it up this was awesome as, I hope you go well in contest.
