((this was a class project!))
Lucifer stood alone at the top of a rundown building. The roof’s hard shingles allowed the rain to slide from it, and land on the alleyway grounding below. Her clawed hands ran through her wet hair. Her eyes glared through the night, looking to the night sky’s moon above. It was beautiful. Lucifer was a sort of fictitious creature – one you’d only see in your nightmares. She was a hybrid mix of the most hated fiends even in Hell. For starters, she was a third vampire. And the other sixty percent of her was equally divided between lycan (the correct terminology for “werewolf”), and demon. She appeared to have a human’s form – body really – but still she had her factors. Like the long blue wolf tail…and the long wolf ears, her fangs and not to mention, two horrendous blue feathery wings straight from Hell.
She leapt from the ledge of the structure and fell towards the ground. She allowed her massive ten-foot wings to fly open at either side, catching the little wind there was and sending her into midair. She flapped twice for balance and floated up over the buildings. Her wings carried her higher and soon to a particular housing down below. She allowed her tail to shift like a boat’s rut, so that she could steer herself in the right direction. Lucifer landed on a particular ledge and peered into the massive glass doors, which often became windows for those that could afford it. The rain poured down the window, dripping onto her hands. Lightening and thunder was soon heard off in the distance, sending her senses into pleasure.
KNOCK! KNOCK! Lucifer tapped on the window-door. Her ears shot up in response, awaiting a familiar sound. When it didn’t come she grasped the latch and pushed it open. Her drenched cloak fell to her feet on soft blue carpet (She only knew it was blue from daylight – and she often hid here due to the threats from the sun.). She crept closer to the bed in the room, her padded feet not making a sound. She spread the claws on her toes and sunk them into the carpet in frustration.
“You’re here somewhere. Where? You’re always here…” she thought aloud. Her black tank top sagged at the back where her wings breached, and forced her to scratch her back. Lucifer’s crystal blue eyes glittered in the little moonlight there was. She glanced at the clouds in the sky and wondered if the moon would soon vanish. She wouldn’t like that – not at all. The strange girl continued to feel around, her ears constantly shifting to be sure of her surroundings. She grasped the thick and comforting blanket on the bed. Her hand continued to slide over a large bump in the blanket.
“Aye, there you are.” She whispered. The blanket was suddenly thrown, startling her. She opened her eyes widely, taking in the outline of the creature in its bed. His silhouette soon became clear.
“I’m sorry, I fell asleep tonight Lucifer. I’m sorry.” Though he was only human, and in human years a few years older, the almost adult child, reached out and hugged the Hellish girl. “Oh? It’s raining again isn’t it? Did you leave your coat on the floor?” he asked. Lucifer shrugged.
“Yeah.” She sat at the edge of the bed, wondering how many more times she would have to do this before they could finally exist as one again. “Ziek?” she asked.
“Huh?” His hazel eyes would have fixated on her eyes, but for now, she couldn’t see them in the dark.
“I really miss having you around. I get so lonely out there in the sky like that.”
Lucifer’s truths were clearer to her than they were to anyone on this filthy planet. She was once a person too, bound and changed by the wrath of Hell. The boy Ziek, an adult outside and a boy at heart, had loved her for many years and offered himself to Hell just to remain with her for all of eternity. The only problem was, was that earth – was binding them now. Ziek fell ill due to Lucifer’s hybrid side effects. He got sick from just being around her. The world around her soon heard about it, and the authorities decided that Ziek was mentally disabled and took him from her to live with his overprotective mom. His mom’s name was Mary, and she thought she knew Hell well enough to separate them. Ziek would spent several years with her until the courts thought he was healthy enough to be on his own. And as for Lucifer, she remained a hunted creature – a large bounty always on her head. She was worth millions to science, and she would do everything in her power to remain out of the labs. She remembered how painful they were. People stabbed her so they could test her blood – their needles large and thick. Her feathering was pulled from her wings, so they could decide if she’d gotten them from some rare bird or something.
Ziek’s case was just a curse waiting to happen. When he lived with Lucifer, he fell ill from the oils on her wings – they released an acidic gas for her natural protection (kind of like how some animals release blood from their eyes to fend off coyotes). When Ziek passed out in the midst of the streets from all the lung damage, their fates were sealed. And the worst part of it was, that they’d found out about their plans to mutate Ziek. Lucifer had been feeding him her blood to get him better, as well as giving him blood transfusions in order to mix their blood so that he could adapt and live un-sickly.
“Lucifer, I love you. And it’s only two more years. And I know that you love me, and that this will all be over soon. One day, when I finally hit twenty-one, we’ll be free from all this forever. I can feel it. No more sickness either.” Ziek smiled. He removed his shirt from his body and showed her his back. The mutation had begun! Tonight! Lucifer stared in horror as massive black feathers and a pair of lumps poked through Ziek’s back.
“Ziek, oh no! Those wings won’t grow that slow! Two years? It only takes three months – maybe four to grow them!” Lucifer gasped. “I have to take you – NOW – before anyone finds out. They’ll kill you! Oh…I never should have -,”
“Lucifer? You’re wings aren’t bothering me. They haven’t been for the past week… I’ve noticed a great change in me too. I feel…free.” Ziek smiled. Lucifer cried. But deep inside her, she was thrilled, and happy. Lucifer took his hand.
“We’re going back to Hell. For two years…then we can come back here and feel… But after we die – it’s back to Hell where we can’t.” Lucifer stood up and faced the two closed doors. She placed her palms facing out and said a Hellish prayer. The doors burst open – glass flying everywhere! The moonlight blew through the clouds and the storm riled itself up even further. A massive light glowed through the two doors just as Ziek’s mom burst into the room – hearing Lucifer’s voice for the first time in years. Ziek grabbed onto Lucifer and wrapped his arms around her waist. Lucifer’s wings glared in the light as Ziek’s mom screamed and hollered. The light grew thicker and as Lucifer finished the prayer with “SHEMHAMFORASH!" a massive portal to Hell opened up…
For several years…no one would hear from Lucifer or Ziek again…
