The bright orange glare of the late afternoon sun blazed overhead as the residents of Suffolk State Maximum Security Prison took advantage of what was called their recess. A variety of different activities were being undertaken, ranging from a violent game of basketball to a calm game of cards.1
However, aside from the normal hustle and bustle of prison activities, a group of three men sat anxiously on a rusty, bent bench next to the towering prison gate which stood between them and their freedom. 2
Unlike the other prisoners, these men cared not for fun and games, but rather for what was scheduled to occur tonight. 3
“You guys ready for the breakout?" one of the men asked.4
"You can bet on it!" the other two responded.5
It was obvious from the simplicity of their conversation that these three men were trying to speak to one another as little as possible to avoid raising suspicion. 6
At that moment, a prison guard, armed with a large semi-automatic rifle, yelled, "GET BACK TO YOUR CELLS, YOU SLIMEBAGS! NOW!"7
The annoyed grunts of the prisoners echoed through the air, but no one dared challenge the guard’s authority.8
"Marcus III and Marcus Senior, just remember your parts and don't screw up. If you want to get your revenge on that boy and girl, this breakout needs to happen as quickly and as smoothly as possible, got that?" one of the three men said quietly.9
Both remaining men nodded their heads in agreement as the third man walked away to his cell. The remaining two prisoners had a few final words to say to one another.10
"Son," began one of them, "don't be afraid of danger. Life is dangerous. We just need to learn to put our fears aside and pursue that which we believe is right."11
"I know, dad," the second man responded. "I won't be afraid to do what I need to do tonight."12
"HURRY UP, YOU DIRTBAGS!" the prison guard yelled.13
The second man continued.14
"Andrew and Jamika are going to pay for what they're done to my brother and sister. They may not have a clue that we're coming tonight, but when they do find out, they'll have nowhere to run and no place to hide. We'll finally have our revenge."15
The two men stood up and began walking.16
"That's right, son. The Holms family legacy will finally be fulfilled!" 17
With that, the two men walked towards their cells with nothing other than revenge on their minds. 18
Tonight would be the night that they finally defeat Andrew and Jamika.19
The two men, who are none other than Mark Holms Sr. and Mark Holms III, and the third unknown person had planned this escape for weeks. 20
And tonight would be the night for which all of their work will finally pay off...
