Bliss

Was it not my own love,

Sprung forth from the Ocean,

Born of the blood of Cronos

That the Greeks knew as Aphrodite?

For surely it would take no less than a goddess

To chain this heart as tightly

as Prometheus upon Mount Caucasus.

Was it for her that a thousand ships

Left the Grecian shores?

But nay, a war she could never cause.

For the minds of men cannot house

both her beauty, and ill thoughts.

Her presence drives out all anger, all sadness, all rage.

Is not the world beatiful for being her abode?

Is not the greatest enemy a joy to behold,

for he also partakes in the same air she breathes?

At her sight, I am disarmed.

The tongue trembles and has naught to say.

She seems a creature sent from Heaven

To prove the existence of the Divine.

The look she has when she smiles

Cannot be put into words, or held in thought

For it is such a new and gracious miracle.

I love it too, even the second time ^_^. My especially favorite lines are "For the minds of men cannot house

both her beauty, and ill thoughts." "To prove the existence of the Divine." and "or held in thought

For it is such a new and gracious miracle." I mean, the whole poem is fantastic, but those lines are epic.
Find a muse soon, okay Josh? I need more classical poetry =
