Locked Up: Chapter 1

SHE awoke screaming! Her eye's sprung open and she quickly closed them. The light's were blinding as she slowly began to try to see where she was. As her rapidly beating heart slowed down and her breathing even out she noticed someone standing at the end of the bed.

"Good morning,Miss Collins,how are you feeling today?" The nurse was a sweet soft spoken woman. Her name was Carol,Carol Smith. Carol slowly and gently took a cool clothe and washed Sarah's face.

"The nightmares aren't going away I see," said Carol.

SARAH tried to remember what the dream was as she enjoyed the cool clothe on her face.

"Don't worry about it honey,you will remember and than you can start to heal."

AS soon as Carol was through giving Sarah her sponge bath there was a rap on the door.

"May we come in now?"

Carol knew who that would be so she took a deep breath and told them they could come on in. In walked two police officers. Carol told them (in a not so friendly voice) not to upset her patient. With this said she gave the the evil eye and left to attent to her other patients.

OFFICER Black was a fairly tall man,dark brown eye's with a hard look to them. Serious type and not to be messed with attitude. He knew people's lives depended on his doing the job right. You don't get second chances in this line of work.

OFFICER Trudy,the new kid on the block and very green,was a small happy sort. Right from the start she had been given and stuck with the name of "Smile's." She really didn't mind though,she embraced it with a smile-of course.

"Miss Collins this won't take long and it would be of great help to our investagation" said officer Black.

Sarah rasied herself up as far as she could in the bed.

"I'm not sure how much help I can be officer...officer Brown is it?" "As I'm sure my doctors have told you I can't remember much of anything before waking up in this room."

Sarah's eye's started to tear up. She tried to say something else but she started trembling and couldn't stop.

OFFICER Trudy (Smile's) picked up the water cup that was on the side table and holding the straw in place so Sarah could drink she said,"Is that better dear?" "Just take it nice and slow there is no hurry."

"I'm fine now thank-you," whispered Sarah.

"Miss Collins if you could tell us anything,anything at all," pushed Officer Black.

"Officer I can't even remember who I am!" screamed Sarah.

"I know my name only because it was told to me by my nurse."

Nurse Carol pushed open the door and took one look at Sarah and said "I'm sorry officers but you'll have to leave now,my patient needs to rest."

"We'll be back when Miss Collins is feeling better than," said Smile's.

BOTH officers walked out of the room into the hospital's hall. They got in the elevator and pushed ground floor. Officer Black turned to Smile's and said "You know we have to find out what she remembers and fast Smile's,she's still in danger and will be until we catch these basterd's."

"I realize that but we need to give her time,anyway there's not much we can do until she remembers."

"Damn it, I know you're right but we need what is buried in that head of hers."

"Come on,Black I'll buy you a coffee."
