Never Letting Go

"Mom, please let me talk to him, just this one time," cried Jessica.1

"You have nothing to say to him," scolded her mom.2

"Please mom! Just this once!" she said with tears running down her cheeks. "He's my friend."3

"He's not your friend. You're not making this any easier on him if you talk to him. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about."4

"Please mom!"5

"Ok, but only for 15 minutes. Then promise me you will let go of him, and not talk to him anymore."6

"I promise." she said... even though her mom knew she didn't mean it.7

"Stay right over there! Where I can see you!"8

"Ok," she said with a slight grin.9

Taylor and Jessica had been a couple for 8 long months. Their love was stronger than a really thick rubber band. They never really had any problems, until Taylor started lying to her. I mean what is it with guys? You love them more than life, and you think they love you too. Then they start acting up. I just don't get it, but back to the Jessie-Taylor story. I'm sorry. I get a little carried away.10

Taylor and Jessica sat and talked well over half an hour. That was the first time they had seen each other in person in over two months. (See Taylor and his friend Dustin went to Arkasas for the summer for training because they joined the national guard. Jessica had to wait behind in Alabama.) They sneaked kisses and managed to hold hands without her mom seeing. She knew she would never stop loving him, and she couldn't lie to herself and try to stop. She knew her mom would kill her if she found out that they were still together, so she pretended to break up with him for a final time and keep the conversation in a friendly matter, nothing more. (Did I mention that Taylor was 18 and Jessica was 14? That's one reason her mom doesn't want them together anymore, the other is because he did her WRONG!)11
