crusty, the little toast that could

there once was a little peice of bread sitting in bag. his parents named him crusty in hopes that he would one day become one of the highest ranking peices of bread, toast!! crusty trained hard and learned the many ways of getting out of the bag and and into the toaster. for there was always a chance that time could pass him by and that mold could set in at any moment. so crusty tried his hardest to look better, and tastier than any other peice of bread in the bag. he often made deals with the others to trade places so he could be closer to the front of the bag. one day while he slept and dreamt of becoming toast, a hand reached into the bag and pulled him out. he awoke to find himself on a counter, next to a pile of deli meats. "where am i?!" he shrieked. as he looked up he saw it. a giant metal contraption known as the toaster. up until now he had only heard of the legends behind it. he jumped with joy as he crept closer and closer to it. 1

but suddenly the hand reached over and put him on top of the deli meats. "NOOOOOOOO!" he screamed. he knew that he would never be toasted. so the little peice of bread jumped back into the bread bag while the hand went into a bag of chips. crusty was heartbroken. he never thought he would become toast and he made his way back to the end of the bag. days passed and he grew stale and old. one morning the hand reached back into the bag. "this is it" he thought, "i shall become another top to a sandwhich." he closed his eyes and waited to be on the counter again. something did not seem right. it began to get very warm all around him, whereas the counter was very cold. before he knew it crusty popped out and he was very sturdy and strong. "i'm toast!" he screamed. and so, the moral of the story is, never give up on your toasty dreams. they can come true.2
