How will Raina prove that she loves him?1
He's running out the door again. A press of the lips on her cheek serves what he thinks to be an adequate portion of affection. Off to work, he thinks he'll see her again in about nine hours when he gets home.2
Try again, yes try again, same as every day, jump in the car just before him, boundedness still applies, watch him bob his head to jazz, such a private moment, sometimes looks uneasy, maybe he knows, maybe he knows, he couldn't possibly know, he would have

At the office again. She is naked, but no hungry eye will gaze lustfully. He, at his desk working on the latest project. She, in the men's restroom, waiting for him to fulfill his body's requests.4
Another private moment, he is looking at himself in the mirror, leaning forward, trying to work out bits of food between his teeth from a mid-morning snack, not knowing that in this act of leaning, he is nearly stuffing his face into his naked wife's breasts--the breasts that are so corpse-like and still, not daring to breathe when he is so close. Another day, another try.5
She whispers thus: "She loves you."6
Then he, trying to sound nonchalant but appearing shaken again: "This is not possible."7
Then she: "She loves you. She didn't love him. Love her back." Looking at him masking his voice but not his face, not knowing he is being stared at as well as listened to.8
Then he: "This is not possible. Why else would she have done it if not for lack of love?"9
Again he exits the restroom as another man enters. She is trying not to sob. She will go watch him at his desk again, adoring him even when he picks his nose, oh those private moments. She will try again tomorrow. 10
