The forest

The birds sing of sunlight, carresing their bright feathers. They sing of nestlings leaving their nests forever. The nests their parents delicatly wove with twigs, adding hair, leaves and feathers to make it soft. Dedication in its truest form, thinking oly of the ones you hold close to your heart. The songs of food, rain and more playfully enter your ears. Lifting the hearts of those listening, making them want to sing along.1

The greenery of the forest holds so much life. Deep greens of full heath, new light greens of new growth. Brown and dull yellow who has lives a full life but now lies peacfully on the ground. Gray-brown trunks standing tall, swaying ever so slightly in the breeze. Bright yellow flowers, pinks, purples and all the colors you can imagine too; bring the forest truely to life and please the observent eye. The brilliant blue of the sky above completes the colors of the forest. 2

Evidence of the animals who struggle every day to survive in the harsh outside world of nature is everywhere. Small, irregular holes in the leaves are traces of catterpillars determined to become a butterfly and add to the glory of the forest. Small dens in the ground hint of chimpmunks, moles and others. Vast tunnel systems, through which they walk, sleep and live. Acorns found collected in the ground or a hole in a tree are the trail of squirrells preparing for the hard winter to come. Tracks left in the mud and sand from all the animals who live to gether in the forest. Each print different and unique, just like the animals. 3

One solitary girl sits in the middle of it all, scribbiling away on a dusty yellow notebook attempting to capture the whole of the forest on paper. Taking it all in, breathing the rich ari, hearing the bird songs, watching the animals. She explores the wonders of the forest with her fingers, Touching every leaf, feeling every tree, becoming one with the forest. Setting the notebook aside, the girl closes her eyes, and enjoys.4
