Semeral Sisters - Chapter 1

“I can’t believe there’s absolutely NO new hot guys!” Jasmine screeches.

“I can’t believe your shallow enough to care.” Her best friend Renee smirks in response, as she quickly stuffs a cheeto into her lip-glossed, shiny mouth. The first day of school, the 3 best friends gather in the lunchroom, sharing all the bits and pieces of the gossip they were already receiving.

“I can’t believe you guys are STILL carrying on this discussion. You two are both shallow.” April slid her lunch tray to the side, and leans forward, obviously seeming as though she had something juicy to share. “Besides, Jasmine…rumors going around Jake Meyers was checking you out in Bio. I think he might be the one.” Jasmine turns to the side and quickly blushes.

“That’s insane!” Renee pipes. “It’s the first day of school, I mean, COME AWN!”

April shrugs, sliding her tray back, bringing a cracker to her mouth, and slowly bringing it back down. She was on a crucial diet. Crackers, especially those salty Ritz, were totally out of the question. The lunch bell rings and the girls get their bags together and head for the door.

“I didn’t think he was checking me out…” Jasmine starts.

“Rumor has it!” April exclaims, smiling widely. Semeral Jack High was the biggest high school in San Fransisco, with exactly 900 kids. In that hallway, about 2/3 of them were lingering. Renee felt sick. Jasmine glanced to her and grinned shyly. They were gorgeous, no doubt about that. Frankly though, none of them cared. All that mattered to the friends, was having fun, and staying friends. Forever . Being so different didn't matter at all the the three. They were sisters, even in all their differences. Renee was the quirky one, the witty one, with all the jokes and sarcasm. She’d never fit in much, but that’s what made her special. Since she was 9 she’d dyed her hair multiple times, the colors ranging from dark brown to neon pink. At the time, it was dyed a bright blond with red highlights. The hairstyle alone was beautiful, but with her bright blue eyes and pale skin, she could’ve passed for an angel. April was the shy beauty. The type that might intimidate you if you saw her. She had dark brown hair that hung to the low of her neck, thick and shiny, like a Pantene commercial, and dark big eyes. She could pass as a model, but she’d declined all the offers, despite how much she didn’t want to. Jasmine was an exotic beauty, half Asian, half Spanish, and she loved more than anything to have fun. She sometimes came out a little strong to someone who wouldn’t know her, but her friends who knew her best, knew she meant no harm.

“Whatever!” Jasmine smiles, her heart pounding hard in her chest. She’d noticed Jake, and thought he was pretty cute when she first saw him. But what would make him check me out? She thought, there’s nothing special about me.

“Well…” Renee said as she reached her next class. “I hate to miss out on this deep conversation,” she grins, letting the two know she was only kidding, “but I have to get to class.”

“Byeee!” the two girls exclaim back, attracting the few other kids in the halls eyes to wonder towards them. Jasmine, loving the attention, blows kisses, while April stands and rolls her eyes.

“I better go, too.” April says, fishing for her math book in her tote bag.

“Later, darling!” Jasmine says, waving to April as she skips down the hall.

April looks back and smiles.

“Buh-bye, babe!” she giggles, and with that, she’s out of sight.

Shallow direction is awesome for experimentation. Seriously, I bet you'll have tons of fun writing this. It's really well-written so far and seems realistic. The friendship immediately made me read on. Good job, really!
