Disappearing Act- Part Three

The air was clean but cold. The sky was a twilight color with dark purple clouds with black coursing through them like veins.

Lidia looked around in awe, trying to comprehend what she was seeing.
As she stood in shock gawking. There was a rustle in a near by bush. Lidia snapped back and stared at the bush.

Minutes passed, nothing happened. She waited a bit longer then turned away and walked forward cautiously.
There was another rustle in a bush slightly ahead of the last one.

This time Lidia walked over to the bush, slowly. She looked around for a stick or a rock or something to throw at what was behind the bush. There was a think semi-short stick a few feet away from her. She bent over and reached for the stick still watching the bush.

She gradually got closer until she was within distance of whacking the center of the bush. Lidia drew her hand up bracing herself for what might pop out and possibly attack her.
She began to bring the stick down with all the force she could conjure up within the fear and excitement. Just as it was about to strike the bush, a boy, about Lidia's age, came up and stopped the stick from coming into contact with his head.

The boy had eyes that were bluer than the ocean and deeper than the Grand Canyon. His features we delicate but stern, His hair was shaggy, dark and sort of long. He looked at Lidia long and hard still holding the stick above his head. Minutes passed and he still looked at her with the same expression, firm yet gentle.
He finally blinked, and then leaned into her and kissed her, just abruptly, he kissed her,

Lidia broke the kiss "WHAT THE HELL!?! What's the big idea?!" She yelled.

The boy's eyes widened in fright and he ran off, he was lightening fast within seconds he disappeared into the woods around them.

Lidia was confused, she stood there wondering what just happened, she then turned and headed back for the door.

“Wow…..What the heck was with him? What the heck was with that place?” Lidia thought as she wriggled out of the closet. She then continued with what her mother told her too, still thinking about the boy and the kiss.

“LIDIA! DAVID IS HERE WITH HIS FRIEND!” Her mother yelled.

Lidia dropped what she was lifting and ran to the front door to great the two boys.

“David!!!” Lidia jumped at her brother and hugged him tightly. “I missed you!”

“I missed you too! Now can you let go so I can breath?” David said trying to gasping for air. Lidia let go. “There we go. This is my buddy Morris.”

“Hello Morris. I’m David’s mother” She greeted him

“Oh hello” He smiled “You’re his mother? Wow”

“Why wow? Do I look old? Like a grandma? ” she asked

“No! You look like you could be his older sister!” He complimented her.

“Why thank you Morris. You’ll get along fine with me” She mused “Well you two boys go get settled in David’s old room and I’ll fix you something to eat. Lidia help Morris with his things.”

“No that’s alright Ms. Lingridge, I’ll take my things. Lidia might strain herself and I wouldn’t want that.” Morris insisted he take his things.

“Oh, alright then. And please call me Marsha. Ms. Lingridge is too formal” She told him.

The two boys headed for David’s room, Lidia fallowed close behind. They entered his room. A cot had been laid out for Morris and both the beds were made there was one box left in the room, but Lidia moved it.

“So how old are you Lidia?” Morris asked

“I’m 14 and a half” she replied “My birthday is April 16th. What about you?”

“I’m 21 same age as David but only a few months younger.” He told her.

“Why didn’t you go home for Christmas? I mean where was everyone that your couldn’t go and see them?”

There was a long silence.
Morris had a grim look on his face then started to speak “My family died in an accident a few months ago.” He turned away form Lidia. “They were coming home from England and on there way home from the air port they ricochet off of the median on the road and into the way of a eighteen wheeler. My dad and sister died instantly but, I was able to see my mom before she passed away in hospital.” Tear trickled from the boy’s eyes. Lidia began to cry as well, but David had a grim, depressed, disgruntled expression. Lidia knew he was holding back tears.

Lidia left the room, tears slowly running down her face.
“Mom, it’s horrible! Morris’ parents died! That’s why he couldn’t go home!” Lidia was trying to hold back more tears.

“I know sweetie, David already told me, this is the only place he could go and I think it means a lot to him that he has somewhere to spend the holidays” Marsha comforted her daughter. “Now you go and keep those boys company.”

Lidia turned away and headed back up the stairs.

“David. Did you know there’s a door in your closet?” Lidia questioned

“Um. What?” David was confused.

“Oh never mind!” Lidia hissed “I’ll tell you later”
