"Can't I just disappear?" Lidia mumbled to Monica. Monica was her best friend.
"I doubt you can without running away and I know you don't wanna do that." Monica replied.
The two girls were walking around out side of school waiting for there bus.
"Can't I just....hide? Like Anne Frank? From my mother?" Lidia looked hopefully at Monica. She just laughed.
"I don't know if that is the best thing to do. Lock your self in a secret room? Good luck with that. You would be aloud to scream or listen to music, for fear you would be found. Unless you hade a never ending supply of batteries for your MP3 player."
Lidia sighed "My life is like a rated G antipasto novel. It won’t even scare little kiddies….But it frightens me.” Lidia gave a smile and a chuckle and boarded the bus.
When Lidia got home she headed straight for her room. It was the last day of school before Christmas break.
“No home work…I am going to be as bored as…..an old man!” Lidia was pretending to cry through the phone to her friend Brighten
“Wow, you could be an actress with a cry like that. WAIT…Why are you freaking out about not having homework??!!?! That’s one of the great things about vacation! You really need a hobby.” Brighten replied.
“I know I do. But all the cool hobbies are expensive. And I suck at writing so, smarts is my hobby.” Lidia didn’t seem impressed with her remark.
“ I have to go now. I wish I could chat longer but we have to hit the road so we can get to my grand parents in like 3 days. I’ll talk to you before new years probably. BYE!”
“Bye! Have fun.” Lidia hung up the phone and headed down to the kitchen.
“Are we doing anything special this Christmas?” She asked her mother
“Umm let’s see. I was talking to your brother and he’s coming down with his friend for Christmas!“
"OH YAY! I miss him! Who's his friend?" Lidia asked
"It's one of his new friends from collage, Morris. He doesn't have anywhere to go for the holidays so i agreed to put him up here for a week or so. They should be here sometime tonight or tomorrow morning." Her mother replied. " You should go get he old stuff out of your brothers room and the spare room and make the beds."
"Yea, okay. Is Allan going to be here?"
" I think he'll be back from work by then so...maybe."
"Alright. Truth be told I kinda miss his lameness, and I want to talk to him."
" He'll be happy to here that. Now go make the beds!"
Lidia smiled and went back up the stairs and down the hallway to her brothers room. It was two years since he started going to school and it looked no different form when he left. The only thing that was diffrent was the boxes and un-made bed.
Lidia sat at the desk planning where to move the things that where scattered about, when somethign caught the cornner of her eye.
" What in the world is that?!" She thought to herself. She looked a bit closer to a spot in the closet by the door. In side the closet was a small door.
She walked over to the closet and leaned in while on her hands an knees. She moved the old clothes on the hanger a side and reached for the door knob. She turned the glossy knob. To her surprised was somthing she couldn't comprehend. Something that was as unbeliveable as elephants flying. A fell swoop into insanity and confusion. Somethign Completely and utterly out of this world!
It was.....
An opening to.....
A GIANT SHINY DOOR!
The space was just big enough for her to squeez through. She slid through the small door into a brightly colored room with only the shiny door inside.
Lidia cousiosly examined the door. In front of the door was a large, gold key with silver waves and lare jewles lining it all over.
She picked up the key, looked at it then looked at the door. She did this a few times then made up her mind.1
She pushed the key inside the key hole and turned it until she heard a click.
What she saw truley, was absolutley, litterally out of this world!
