Hauting eyes Ch.2

Half a day would soon pass as our small band of warriors rode the trail to the next village, during that time it had started to rain which slowed our pace considerably. On top of that all the whining the wolf pup had been doing was beginning to irritate me. Lucky for myself and the rest of us a cave was nearby and we stopped to camp out inside the cave for the night. We left the horses near the cave entrance so they wouldn't get to wet through the night. As I dried my hair I looked down at the tiny wolf pup pawing at me.

"Here." I said dropping a towel on her as she looked up at me.

"Don't look at me like that. dry yourself off." I said watching the pup roll around as she tangled herself in the towel.

Dumb dog I thought as I watched her for a while and braided my hair. Raven and the others had already bedded down and I kept watch as I sat by the fire looking into it. Such a mysterious thing, not in the way it was made but in the way in which you could see things inside it. Past, present, future,things like that.

I looked over hearing the pup whine as I took the towel off her and she shook off and scratched her ear with her hind leg shaking afterwords. A small smile crept across my lips. Okay maybe she wasn't so dumb. She sure as hell whined a lot though. I tossed her a piece of jerky watching her eat it as I leaned down crossing my arms and laying my head on them. The pup pounced right beside me as I moved away a bit. Evidently she wanted to play.

I of course wanted no such thing as I ignored her and poked at her ear.

"Much as I hate it, you need a name, i'm pretty much stuck with you now." I said as the pup sat down panting some as she gave a short bark.

"Shh." I said as she put her ears down.

"How about....Athena?" I asked as she perked up and jumped on me licking my face as I smiled laughing. "Alright alright that's enough." I said smiling pushing her off me gently.

"Athena it is then." I said petting her as we soon fell asleep beside each other.
