"kana!" Rex called from one side of the cold silvery bricked wall that concealed his home on the 4th floor of the apartment building above the local Chinese resteraunt called "Mc. Prawn" His fist met the cold surface and he felt the rough edges of the brick snag against his skin as he slowly removed his hand from the wall. "Come on Kana.." He said to himself turning around to face the room; An old lampshade was dangling from the bed and the main lights were blinking at him coldly.. "Rex..." Whispered a voice from the otherside of the wall causing Rex to violently turn himself back around to face the cold stone again. "kana.." He whispered this time in return to her whimpered crys. "I need you to try to black out Kana-" He whispered gently leaning his slender figure against the stone, he was tired, that was true, but he wasn't about to give up.. "I don't think I-"
"You can Kana, I know you can.. I'm right here... I'll be here when you get up." Rex interjected, he could hear the young girls shallow breathing as she leaned her head against the other side of the wall.. She was bound to pass out sooner or later.. Just let it be sooner Rex prayed silently watching the unmoving stone.
"Say no Kana.." A voice in the girls head pleaded with her.
"I can't." She replied quietly to the voice as Rex listened..
"Please kana.. I can't get you out, you're going to have to break yourself out.." Rex divulged, placing both hands upon the wall. "I can onl-" kana replied slipping off her thought trail towards the end of her sentence as she forgot what her concious mind wanted and she collapsed on the floor. A small thwip was heard by Rex and then he suddenly jolted his way across the room away from the ever massing wall.. "Kana!" he shouted as he landed facing the wall.. Wondering if the blast would be strong enough.
Sure as he was of Kana's ability the glowing that came from the cracks in the wall still scared Rex somewhat, the only other thing he had ever seen glow in such a bright blue was his mother, before the government took her away.. He had heard many years later that the blast created by his mother was indeed full of radiation and any contact with it would have killed the very people who were trying to prevent her power 'leaking' from her weak body as it were. he also heard that she would not have been able to survive such a blast.. This thought made him wonder how Kana was still standing after she first used this blasting power of hers, not that she could control it, the only way she could activate this power was when her concious mind was switched off.. She was, and would always be in no control when such a thing happened.
Rex felt his heart flip inside his chest as the walls of the room began to quiver.. And a piercing screach like metal against metal was heard. Kana, on the otherside of this wall was still unconcious, her body limp against the wooden floorboards, stained with her own blood... Her now dark blue wings shivered and moved as if preparing for flight, unrestrained by their angel like host. Only a few feathers upon these bright wings were still white, and unstained by the blood that they themselves had gurgitated after she passed out. The light coming from these wings began to get brighter and brighter, causing Rex to sheild his eyes, preparing for the jarring blast which he knew was to follow.
"Come into the light..." Whispered a voice that seemed to be coming right from the centre of Kana's heart.. "Come in... To the.. Light." The voice slipped out into the warm air again beginning to strain itself to be heard.. kana sighed.. Her wings convulcing within the bright lights, lifting her slowly.. Gently up and then.
Nothing.
Pieces of bricks and shattered glass rushed their way through the air and towards Rex, he just stared for a moment before realising what was going on and slowly sliding behind the cuboard in the corner of the room.. He couldn't hear anything, merely the beating of his own heart.. Ba-dumb, ba-dumb...
Ba. Dumb as everything around him stopped and he heard the swishing of wings as Kana was hurled by her now tatty and very dusky white wings straight towards the cuboard Rex was hiding behind. "heh." Rex let out a sigh of relief as he stood up just as kana was flung towards the wall and relieved her wings of the strain of Earths gravitational pull upon the young host known to him as 'Honey' from time to time. The force of the blast brought him and Kana back somewhat as he tried to stay standing with her wavering body close to him; he slid down so he was sitting on the floor with her on his lap.
"Kana.. You need to get up Honey." he whispered to her gently propping her head up slightly and kissing her forehead. "Hmm..?" She slowly murmoured bringing her head up to face his a little too fast before engaging his gaze with hers in return. She coughed slightly, closing one eye. "It doesn't hurt, does it?" Rex asked, concerned but also embarressed by his own blind devotion to the girl. "No Tiger, It's all good. Just, don't let me go..." She replied smiling, her thumb sliding up and down the scare on his left cheek.
She layed her head against his chest and they sat in silence for a while, before a small click and a zap was heard as her wings began to recoil and fold themselves back into neat little tabs hidden only by her waist length blue hair.
"Sometimes love/is more complicated/without wings." the tiny voice from before whispered from the darkness. "But love is supposed to be unspoken either way; heard only by two entangled hearts in the spiral that living creates..."
"And that is why he loved her so much, because she couldn't tell him so herself, and neither could he."

Author notes
Woo.. This is just a sort of random and yet not so random fanfic about two manga charas from Pineapple House, Kana and Rex who have a bond that is stronger than most people would dare to hope for.. Their love is unspoken, but they still know it's real, and that is what I think is beautiful about their relationship.. And I'm not just saying that because I write the damned thing
Hope you enjoy! And maybe comment? :33~
What does Kana and Rex's relationship make you feel inside?
