Is It Really Going To Be Forever?

For-ev-er
Meaning: Without ever ending;
Eternally

I just want to know that when you say
that you'll love me
For-ev-er
do you really mean it?
Or when you say it
do you just mean
"I love you for now"
"Because you're the best thing that I can find...
in THIS area..."

When they say that everyone is loved
and accepted in the eyes of our lord
then I want to know
why I'm being told
that I'm going to burn in hell for-ev-er
because I have eyes for another,
another like me.

And why do we kill?
Why do we yell?
Because there are people out there
who would rather lay down with a girl
then with a man?
Why do we kill because
there are people who pray in a
synagogue instead of in a church.

I want to know why the hell
I have to be blonde and
have legs as long as the road in front of me
to be told that I'm
attractive
and have people want me around.

So I'd rather you tell me the truth
when you say that you love me.
Dear Jesus,
Dear Lover,
Dear Friends,
Dear Mother.
Are you really saying you'll love me forever
no matter what sins I commit?

No matter what I believe,
Or who I lay down with?
Or are you just saying
"I'll love you forever
if you follow me."
"If you do what's right."

What's the true definition of
for-ev-er?
I want you to tell me.

Author notes

Okay, question for the contest "Did this song hit a nerve? Why?"
Yes, it did hit a nerve obviously. Just incase you where wondering about parts of the poem (because I kind of jumped from topic to topic) then I'll explain now.
The first three stanzas of the poem are about the narrator of this poem (me) wondering if her friends, boyfriend, and parents will always be there for me forever no matter what, like they all tell her.
The next few stanzas are about, obviously, religion. I'm bisexual and I'm always told how it's not right for me to like women (to my boyfriend, if you're reading this, don't freak out, I'm not cheating on you with a girl or anything. I just now realized it sounded like that) and I was just wondering why God is supposed to love you forever but he's going to hate me because I'm me?
And the stanza after that is about the standard in this world. Why are people like Paris Hilton praised for being young and beautiful but she can't stay out of jail? Why is that right?
The last two stanzas of the poem are pretty explanatory I think. They just address everything I wrote above. Asking if they're still going to love me even though I'm not Paris Hilton, I'm not straight, and that want the truth and not someone to lie to me every day.
I hope you liked my really long poem and really long explanation, lol. And people PLEASE don't tell me how I'm going to go to hell if you think that when you read this. I'm not in the mood and you obviously know what I'm going to say back to that.

Great poem, really struck a tone. It does what all good poems should do, make you think about life and the world and how you view it. Plus, anyone who has a go at Paris Hilton is worthy of being my friend, why exactly is she famous again, oh yeah, born rich.

This is really sweet and thought-provoking. It has some really good points and I always wanted to write something like this. You did it better than I could have done though, so I'm glad you wrote this. Good luck in your contest.

    Well thought out

I think you brought up questions everyone thinks about at some time or another. When you start doubting yourself or your beleifs in others then I think these thoughts come about.

Hahaha! This was excellently written! You put a lot of emotion into this poem, which strengthens it even more. Guess it's a good thing I don't believe in hell, hahaha!

Ok, seeing that I'm an atheist, I'm not going to talk about God hating you and what not.

I also agree with the fourth stanza, where you describe what a lot of people would define as attractive, a girl's personality is what makes her beautiful, not her outward looks.

Anyways, I couldn't find anything wrong, and I'm going to add this to my favourites list. You penned this one really brilliantly!

Thanks for the great read and keep up the good work!

All of us are going to hell, so I guess I'll see you there. This is quite possibly my favorite thing you've ever written. Good job. Oh, and yes, I will love you for-ev-er. No matter what.

Yes, Maranda, you are going to hell. But just remember that I'll be right there next to you for killing Alex. Lol. You did awesome with this poem, and I loved the emotion that you put into it. You were awesome, and I'll see you in hell!

Why would you go to hell?
    That's my question.
People say God love you no matter what.
But I think he's happy with who you are right now.
He loves you because you're who you are. You're not going to hell.
Unless you commit some very untimely murder right before you die because you get pissed about something.
    Somehow I dount that
Really, though, I absolutely loved this. The poem was very good, and you're my first entry
You interpreted the song very well, and I'm glad it inspired this, truely proud. You did a very nice job on it.
And the explaination was great, the poem and AN's filled with meaning.
Great job, I give you three clappy men for a job well done.
    xoxo
