Hauting eyes Ch.1

I had always thought she'd be with me forever. That she'd never die, our race was one that was said to live forever, beyond normal humans. We are a sub-race of the humans made to live past those normal humans whose life spans are now reaching into the hundreds. We were created to live beyond that...but...she didn't. She didn't live that long, She died when I was just five, she was only twenty-eight. The one who gave me life....taken from me. From that day on I was seen as a demon,a sin. I was always with her, we did everything together, then she caught a terrible disease and died two weeks later.

I had read somewhere before that the eyes are the window to one's soul, ever since she left so did my soul. I became...empty, hollow, pretended to be without emotions and eventually, I was left alone. No one to comfort me, to nurture me, I learned on my own, the world was against me. So I did the only thing I could do..left it all behind. My name, my memories, my village, all of it. I gave myself the name sin, after all that's what I was. Nothing but a child that everyone thought was the cause of her mother's death let them think that way I don't care, I never did...nor will I ever care.

So now I Wander from village to village doing little things to help out. Through my travels I somehow happened to learn many things about herbs, poisonous, non poisonous, ones that can cure ailments and such.

"Hey sin." A voice suddenly called as I jumped and felt my horse rear as I frowned and pulled the reins shushing her.

"Don't startle me like that dummy, what do you want?" I asked annoyed at the band of Riders I had joined with just two weeks after I had left my latest village.

"Your Fifteen today right?" He asked myself of course suspecting something he had in store for me.

"Yeah and?" I replied as I smelled something rotten in the air, a stench I knew to well, the smell of death.

Stopping my horse I swung my leg over stepping down as I walked forward unsheathing my sword as I looked around.

"Sin?" I heard my name called as I gave a quick shh sound, the smell was close whatever had died had been dead for a few days, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a rotting piece of Flesh and bones.

Pulling a bush to the side I found a dead wolf and her pups lying in the brush. Whether or not a hunter had got them I'm not sure, it looked like the mother had tried desperately to fend off her pups from some danger. I looked up standing sighing some. They'd be safe there no one would bother them and the other animals would pick off what they wanted. I turned to go back to my horse and heard tiny sounds coming from a rotting log as I walked over and knelled down looking in. Inside was a small wolf pup, I wasn't sure if it belonged to the dead mother and her dead litter, all I knew was that it was old enough to see and making quite a fuss. I looked closer seeing the pup covered in bugs as I sighed, why in all seven hells was I helping an animal?

"Come here." I said pulling the pup out hearing it whine more as it snapped at me and I pulled my free hand away and clamped my hand on his muzzle careful to still let it get air as it struggled to get away.

"Oh stop stupid mutt." I said picking the bugs off once the pup had calmed down enough.

"Sin, oh I see where'd this guy come from?" One of the men asked.

"She, and she bites so keep your hand away. Hey Soran bring me my bag!" I called as A young boy with blond hair came over as I moved my own ebony black hair from my face as I rummaged inside it and pulled out some Jerky.

"I ain't feeding you milk so you better be old enough to eat meat." I said holding the pup as I let her mouth go and held the Jerky in front of her as she bit it and pulled.

"Here." I said putting the pup down and letting her eat as I stood dusting myself off.

"Bleh now I need a bath I'm going to smell like dead wolf for a week." I said walking back to my horse.

I soon heard the crunch of small feet as I looked back and down seeing the pup had followed me. In my mind I was thinking why the hell is this thing following me? So I gave it some food, thing probably would have died anyway had I not.

"Get!" I said shooing the pup off as she stood looking at me.

"What's the matter can't hear go!" I shouted taking a step forward as he pup ran back a bit.

"Tch...dumb dog." I said climbing on my horse seeing the pup had come back.

"Looks like she likes you." I heard Soran say.

I sighed some and ran my fingers through my hair. "Down girl." I said feeling my horse lower as I picked the pup up hearing her whine.

"Stop or I'm leaving you here...get saddled Soran we need to catch up with Raven and the others." I said setting the pup between the saddle horn and my legs so she wouldn't fall as we caught up with the others and resumed our ride into the next village.
