There are cracks through your wall
The jagged lines where reality seeps in
It pierces your fantasy
Attacks it with bloodied knives
Don’t you see the blackness, Lisa?1
It’s going to kill your fantasy
Take what you have left in the world
Throttle it and stamp it into the dust
Turn red and yellow and pink and orange
Into dull black and plain white
It’s closing in now, Olivia.2
Feel the scars, those running along thy crested breast
‘X’ marks the spot
Where your heart lies
It hums wearily, and oh-so-drearily
Do you hear the pain breaking through, Victoria?3
Paint over the holes with coloured feelings
But you cannot hide or forget what lies beneath
Twist and turn into lapses of momentary insanity
Fight what tries to drag you deep into the abyss
Reality has not an innocent intent
It’s coming to get you, Elsa.
Author notes
Look at the names carefully. You might notice something special. Also then you'll realise what the poem is really about, besides reality. (:
I am a female! My current favourite song would be Dance Dance by Fall Out Boy. I think flowers are pretty, but pretty much overrated for Valentine's.

Love.
That is so beautiful. And what thoughtfulness! The poem in itself, without the secret name thing, is beautiful. But the hidden message; that's brilliant.
I just love this. What a poem. One of the best I've read here. I just love it; the wording, the vocabulary, the flow; all of it.
You did a beautiful job.
Thank you so much for entering my contest, and I wish you the best of luck.

This is a really amazing poem and so clever the little hidden gem you put in with the names.

powerful!
hello! i think this poem was wonderful - it was both meaningful and the way it was written, i felt, made it quite impactful. the thing with the names was clever, too, although it might be a bit distracting. there are some lines i really love in here, but really, i just think the poem is awesome on the whole. -
