Lullaby side story: Stormy night for a mother and son

A week would pass since Kira's birth and I was as any new mother would be extremely happy to hold her child in her arms. He's such a sweet baby with his dark black hair and his dark garnet eyes, Ami had assured me his eye's would lighten up a bit when he got older, his tiny hands and feet, I smiled gently at him as I held him watching him feed. It wouldn't be long until I heard voices, the others must have arrived for Chibi-usa was the first to come running in with Hotaru as I smiled and gently stroked Kira's head.

"Is this Kira?" Chibi-usa asked as I nodded some.

"He's eating right now though I'll let you see him in a bit." I said smiling looking down at Akira as I patted his back a little.

"All done?" I said buttoning my shirt again as I gently placed him against my shoulder and patted his back soon hearing a small burp as I smiled and shifted him a bit so I was cradling him to let the girls see.

"Oh he's so cute." Chibi-usa said smiling as she held his hand with her finger.

I smiled proudly as the others came around commenting on how cute he was how he had a head full of hair and what not. I nodded some and gently stroked his cheek.

"Why not show them your pretty eyes?" I said smiling as Akira opened his eyes and whined some at the brightness.

"Aww what's the matter?" Usagi cooed as I brought his blanket over him a bit.

"The light scared him." I said turning the knob to the lights dimming them a bit as Akira opened his eyes again and cooed.

"There now all better." I said smiling as Everyone sat around me as I introduced Kira to them. His many aunts and one uncle and his two Godparents and big sister. The others stayed for quite a while as the visit turned into a party for the both of us. Usagi and the others soon left promising to bring lots of toys and Gifts next time they visited as I waved to them and closed the door.

"Time for bed my little one." I said softly as I hummed to him and took him upstairs to the bathroom where I bathed him and dressed him for bed as I walked with him and rocked him gently until he fell asleep as I placed him in his crib putting his blanket over him as I turned on the mobile and gently kissed his forehead as I left to have a nice night's rest.

It wouldn't be until later that night when a Thunder storm had hit that I woke up startled hearing Akira's cries as I got out of bed and walked to his room that was next to mine and walked inside finding my little one in his crib kicking crying and screaming.

"Awww shh shh Mommy's here now, everything's ok now." I said as I reached in picking him up as I held him close and winced at the brightness of a lighting bolt as Thunder crashed a while later followed by more of Kira's screams. I gently patted his back and sat down in a rocking chair as Kira's screams soon became tiny cries. Gently I stroked his hair as I kissed the top of his head and patted his back.

Little child, be not afraid

The rain pounds harsh against the glass

Like an unwanted stranger

There is no danger

I am here tonight

I sang softly noticing Kira immediately calm as I smiled glad to see he knew the sound of his mothers voice as I held him against me and nuzzled him as I watched the rain outside. Yes a perfect song for us as I continued to sing.

Little child

Be not afraid

Though thunder explodes

And lightning flash

Illuminates your tear-stained face

I am here tonight

And someday you'll know

That nature is so

This same rain that draws you near me

Falls on rivers and land

And forests and sand

Makes the beautiful world that you see

In the morning

I looked up a while later seeing Haruka and Michiru leaning against he door Michiru in Haruka's arms as I smiled at them Michiru had her violin and I nodded some letting her play as I sung, the sounds soon lulling my little Akira back into his little dream world as I placed him back in his crib smiling some.

"Sleep tight my little Miracle." I said softly as I leaned on the crib watching him sleep as I looked out the window. Our first Stormy night together, one I had hoped that neither of us would forget.
