College Bittersweethearts -Part One

Wilma Streener was no doubt, the closest thing Paxton University had to a celebrity. She was flawless, beautiful, and very intelligent. Her father was the owner of all “My Wilma’s Real Estate Agencies” all over the USA. As entirely dumb that name might sound for a company that sells houses, “My Wilma’s Real Estate Agencies” manage to sell millions of estates everyday! Wilma was not your usual popular school girl. She wasn’t at all stuck-up, but kind, intelligent, rich, and drop-dead gorgeous, the most wonderful nineteen-year-old girl Paxton U. had probably ever accepted into their school.

“Welcome everyone to the Paxton Panthers college football team. I know we are going to have a lot of fun kicking some major cussalent butt this season, but before we do any of that, we must let you know that there are some rules to lay down. No dating other Paxton students, no illegal use of drugs, smoking, drinking or partying while you’re on my team.” Coach Radisson explained. He had been the Paxton football coach for twelve years, and was definitely someone you wouldn’t want to mess around with. “Now, I’m happy to have all of you with us, but I’d like you to meet a friend of mine that will be playing a stellar Q.B. for our team. Gentlemen, Ryan Esbomm!” Radisson announced. A quite good-looking college boy stepped onto the podium next to his new coach. Wilma Streener watched from a far distance with her best bud, Pennie, as the new hottie started to give a speech.

“What a hunk, huh, Wilma?” Pennie exclaimed.in a squeaky voice.

“Yeah. I’ve heard about him, too. He came here with a full-ride.” Wilma glanced at him. Whoever Ryan Esbomm was, he looked like a boy who could be one of those shirtless models for Abercrombie. Her eyes followed Ryan as he took a seat down on a bleachers with the rest of the new Panther teammates. Now Wilma noticed that Ryan was staring dreamily back at her, too. Ryan seemed to drown in those ocean-colored eyes of Wilma’s. He wanted Wilma to wrap her bleach-blonde hair around his neck, and for her long, beautiful arms to hug his shoulders. Ryan tried his best to show this sensation of emotions to Wilma with a timid grin.

“He has to be mine!” Wilma cried.

“Honey, don’t you know about Coach Radisson’s rule? None of his players can have any flings with any of the girls who go to Paxton University.” Pennie sighed. “Bummer, huh?”

“But Pennie, what if we could have this secret love thing, you know? That nobody knows about! It would be so romantic.” Wilma fantasized.

“I suppose, if you really want that Ryan kid to get booted off the team.” Pennie shrugged. “But whatever Wil, I’m not going to tell you that you can’t. In fact, if you were really sure about this, you could even go after the team meeting and ask him out to dinner.”

“I might have to, Pennie, I might have to.”

Wilma maneuvered herself through the team locker room to find her across the field crush boy. Now Wilma really new that he would be a great model for Abercrombie, she could see his perfect six pack and his gelled-down, brownish hair. Her heart beating quickly, Wilma made an exhilarating approach up to Ryan’s locker. “Hey.” She greeted flirtatiously.

“Oh, and you must be that pretty-face watching in on the meeting today, right?” Ryan winked. “I’m Ryan Esbomm, future quarterback for the Paxton Panthers.”

“Right, I’ve read about you and your big scholarship, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” Wilma cooed, her body all fluttery. “You know, I heard about your coach’s whole ‘no dating other students’ policy, but seriously, do you want to have a friend-on-friend bite to eat tonight at the campus’ coffee hangout? They have sandwiches and stuff.”

“A friend-on-friend bite to eat sounds harmless. I’d love to. How about I’ll meet you there at 7:00.” Ryan agreed, understanding this was actually going to be a date in disguise.

“Great, see you then.” Wilma started to walk away.

“Wait baby, I didn’t seem to catch your name!” Ryan called after Wilma.

Wilma’s locks flipped in a supermodel way as she turned her head to reply, “It’s Wilma, Wilma Streener!”

7:39, Wilma sat anxiously waiting at Paxton Bean Hut. Was Ryan a stupid football player that liked to stand girls up for his sick amusement? No. Wilma was positive that this player was different. Maybe he didn’t know his way real well around campus. Just in case, Wilma got to her feet to see if she could find him, when the door threw open and her “friend-on friend date” came inside.

“Hey, so sorry I was late, I bumped into Coach Radisson and we had to have a talk about football and stuff.” Ryan laughed, as he sat down in the leather seat across from Wilma.

“Oh, it’s quite alright. I know you probably are busy often. I have a menu here if you want to decide what you’re going to eat right away.” Wilma slid the laminated list of hot beverages and foot across the table to the future Q.B. of the Paxton Panthers. All of a sudden, Wilma thought about women who are married to doctors and how if say you married a Dr. Matthew Brown, the woman would want to be called Mrs. Dr. Matthew Brown. Could Wilma someday be Mrs. Q.B. Ryan Esbomm?

“They have good stuff here…what are you having?” Ryan asked Wilma.

“A cup of soup, and ice water.” Wilma replied. “But you can get whatever you want, you know.”

“You’re getting ice water?” chuckled Ryan. “Come on girl, I’ll pick up the bill, get whatever you want!”

“I want a chocolate malt, but they’re too big for me.” admitted Wilma, her cheeks blushing.

“Oh, well that does sound good. If you really want one, we could split one, you know, like a friend-on-friend malt sharing thing.” he teased.

“Well, ok!” nodded Wilma.

Ryan got up to go order and get the food. He really thought he liked Wilma, but knew that he had his pro football Q.B. dream to chase, and at the moment he couldn’t be chasing a girlfriend, too. He came back to Wilma and his table, with a large chocolate malt with two straws. The two sat and sipped chocolate malt all night, ate food, flirted and chatted with each other all night, and agreed to sometime have another “friend-on-friend bite to eat” again. At 11:38, they decided to go back to their dorms for the night. They had just grown comfortable with each other, and began to realize their feelings for each other. Just as the two stood up to walk out the door, Wilma leaned over, and planted her juicy, glossed lips on Ryan’s. The kiss lasted more than they thought it would, and neither of them wished it would end, until Father Time decided to cause some mischief and sent Coach Radisson into the coffee house to grab a cup of decaf to go. The coach was astonished and angered to see who could have been his best quarterback in a long time lip locking probably one of the most popular female students at Paxton University!

“Esbomm! The first day on the Panthers and you blew it! You’re out! You’re no longer on the team!” Radisson thundered. He gave both the students the evil eye and rocketed out the door.

Ryan was absolutely flabbergasted. He stared at Wilma with teary-eyes. Slowly he said, “I blew it didn’t I?”

Wilma didn’t respond in anyway, just with the same worried and hurt stare that Ryan had. Ryan looked at Wilma once more in a romantic way, and then trailed out the door.

I did enjoy this and it's not that long, really. It was at a very goodly judged length and the forbidden love you included was what I looked for. Though the ending seemed kind of fast, it wrapped up nicely and made me wonder what happened to their love. Did they stay together? What did Ryan do about not being Q.B.? Did the coach give him a second chance? All that. Great job, thank you for entering the contest and good luck!

I know this might be pretty long, but I hope you took the time to read it. It took me a while to think about a love story and then write it. I hooe you enjoyed it.
