Gently my eyes close automatically,
and he takes it as a sign to move his lips closer to mine.
So close, I could feel his soft breath on my upper lip.
Suddenly his lips touch mine ever so lightly.
his fingers move from my cheek slowly and subtly down
my body.
suddenly i am a thousand miles high
I am a ballerina
doing splits in the skies
Suddenly he pulled away.
My eyes shot open.
“I—I’m sorry,” He mumble out,
quickly standing up and walking away,
with out another word
and with out even looking back.
Author notes
This story is a symbol that no matter how good things are going, just as quickly, they can be over without an explaination. My mother recently passed away. I've been attempting to write stories to help me grasp how it happened, yet i can't bring myself to write anything directly about it, or her. So, this is a coat, instead of losing a mother, she lost a love. He suddenly had stopped kissing her and he left, but she doesn't know why. My mother died very suddenly, and it was not expected by anyone. Right before she died everything really was going good. We had just got our kitchen re-done, and we went to Italy for my parents 20th anniversary. In different ways the deep meaning of the poem was to be connected back to death.

Wow.
This was a sad poem in itself, but when added to the author's notes it makes me really sad.
I think, actually, that this is a great way to relieve yoursef of some of those feeling, without pouring salt in the wounds, if you know what I mean. If you don't directly talk about her, it won't hurt so much, but in writing and knowing yu're relating it to your mom, it can help you. In my opinion, anyway.
So i really, really love the poem. The meaning is amazing, that things can end so suddenly it can make you breathless. That wqas great. And the symbolic way you put that in there was great.
Basically, I loved it.
Great job, good luck, and thank you, so much, for entering my contest.
xoxo
