I am a married man, recently retired. The only writing I did professionally was computer programs and the occasional technical paper or manual. As a boy and young man I read voraciously, but as I was pulled ever deeper into the vortex of technology I found little time for reading, save for a few favorite science fiction writers.

I always enjoyed my job, making it easy for me to fall under its spell, but a few months of detoxification have allowed me to see how much I have missed out on in the past forty years. Whether I have any talent as a writer, whether I can recall the grammar drilled into me by my English-teacher mother, and whether I even have enough operational brain cells remaining to command a decent vocabulary, these are all open questions. Now, at last, I am going to try to explore them.

Thank you for your comments. I have looked and I think that your suggestions do add to the flow. I appreciate all comments. This time I agreed with all of yours; that will not always be the case, but I will appreciate even those I do not agree with.
