Hey all!
I am a young Canadian woman with a penchant for fanfiction and a love for science fiction and fantasy. I'm a lot like a six year old child in that I like to do things with my hands and I'm easily entertained.
I really do appreciate all comments I recieve, and I thank you for them. I will try to return the favor where I can, but I often won't leave a comment. I'll drop by and read a few things, but I'm not going to know what to say.
I apologize, but I am awful for small text. I have a hard time reading larger text myself (strange I know). If it's too small to read let me know and I'll bump it up a size.
A bit more about things I enjoy:
My hobbies include writing, drawing, painting, and molding things out of clay. I'm currently working on painting an old stratocaster. I have a novel that is perpetually in progress. I like to go for walks in the woods, if I had access to horses I'd likely enjoy riding a horse through a vast field or meadow. I like to lay a blanket out on the grass and just nap outside.
The things that make a movie, a show, a song, or a book what they are is the writing. Sure with TV shows and movies you also need great acting, but sometimes even the greatest actor can't save a film if the writing is awful. So what better way to get an idea of what makes me the writer I am and illustrate what writing I like than to include some of my favorites?
My favorite movies include Big Fish, V for Vendetta, 300, Stargate, Penelope, Mirrormask, Pan's Labyrinth, and The Last Unicorn. I like pretty much anything that comes out of Studio Ghibli. I have a soft spot for older (pre 1990) Disney movies. Robin Hood and Alice in Wonderland are my favorite.
I love the TV shows Doctor Who, Stargate (both SG1 and Atlantis), Heroes, Firefly, and Big Bang Theory. If Joss Whedon has had a hand in it I will likely watch it. Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog was pure genius.
I love to read more than I love to write. Favorites include American Gods, Neverwhere, Coraline, the Sandman (Neil Gaiman), the Discworld series (Terry Pratchett), Good Omens (Terry and Neil), His Dark Materials (Phillip Pullman), Sword of Truth (Terry Goodkind), the Avalon series (Marion Zimmer Bradley), the Chronos arc (Madeliene L'Engle), the Night Watch series (Sergei Lukyanenko), the Foundation series (Isaac Asimov), Fables (Bill Willingham), and Children of Men (PD James). Other favorite authors include Tamora Pierce, Ursula LeGuin, Gregory Maguire, and Ray Bradbury.
I listen to a lot of music and the music I listen to often influences my writing. I listen to mostly punk music with a lot of alternative and folk rock thrown in. My favorite band is the Bouncing Souls. Other favorites are Against Me!, Pulley, Lifetime, Lucero, Fleetwood Mac, the Pretenders, the Clash, 311, Bedouin Soundclash, and Incubus
