Hey! I come from the middle of nowhere. (literally...kind of) Anyways. I mostly write poetry, and it is by far what I am best at (check out my allpoetry account...^_^), but I am trying to improve upon my writing skills, so...here I am. I write the odd story, but generally my inspiration runs out or I lose interest and they die. (figuratively speaking ^_^) I would really appreciate any comments or constructive criticism on my work...as I try my very best to improve.

I have three ongoing stories that I am working on: Fog, Hakumei, Jacarandas, and another untitled one about angels/demons that is being written at the moment. (Hakumei means weak light, and is on hold at the moment, as well as Fog, due to extreme writers block that must be remedied by time).

About me...favorite color, purple. favorite time of day, right after dawn or dusk. definitely a cat person. I do freakishly well in school and therefore my social life suffers as does my writing. I love the mountains but hate extreme cold. I hate extreme heat. I love Japanese culture and language (and may be going on a 3-month foreign exchange next year). I play the violin (moderately well). Religion-wise, I believe in what I wish to. Reincarnation--yes. A classical idea of heaven/hell--no. I believe in freedom. I hate how much of my generation are extremely ignorant about the state of global affairs. I cannot dance to save my life. I have been in love with Cyrano de Bergerac( the character from the book by Edmond Rostand) since I was 10. Read obsessively (and very fast- 1 good-sized book in 1.5-2 days is a good measure). I hate intolerance. I support the rights of all people, or try to, no matter whether I agree with them or not. I have no political party... I believe in truth.

Some quotes that I love :

"I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -Voltaire

"There is nothing you can see that is not a flower; there is nothing you can think that is not the moon." -Matsuo Basho

"I know but one freedom, and that is the freedom of the mind" -Antoine de Saint-Exupery

"Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves." -Albert Einstein (random, huh? ^_^)

"He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed." - Einstein

"Never do anything against conscience even if the state demands it."-Einstein

"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." -Einstein

"When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That's relativity." -Einstein

"Men think highly of those who rise rapidly in the world; whereas nothing rises quicker than dust, straw, and feathers." -George Gordon, Lord Byron

"To really ask is to open the door to the whirlwind. The answer may annihilate the question and the questioner." -Anne Rice

"People who cease to believe in God or goodness altogether still believe in the devil. I don't know why. No, I do indeed know why. Evil is always possible. And goodness is eternally difficult. " - Anne Rice

"Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared."- Buddha

"All men by nature desire to know." -Aristotle

    I MISS YOU!!!!
Your profile is awesome! And I finally know what Hakumei means...ha ha. Well girl, I would tell you how much I love your writing, and you, but you already know all that from the first one million times I told you. Good luck on everything. Stay beautiful and the smartest of us all.

You sound really cool. I especially got interested when I saw your name. I went, "Oh, wow! Someone with the same name!" and just had to keep reading your profile.

My favorite color is also purple. I read at a pretty fast clip, myself, and yes... I do pretty freakishly well at school. My generation seriously annoys me, too.

It's nice to see that we, as Marias, have so much in common!
