Sick of reverse sexism + aside.

All women are bitches.
Stand clear of the rampage of angry women.
All men are bastards.
And all is silent.

Tonight, on the news, there was a "report" about how "scientists have proven" that the world would be better off if women ran the stock exchange and wall street; how the only bank left in Iceland was run by women (inferring the other banks with males were to blame, because ONLY people that were directly involved in bad decisions suffered, right?). How it was males and testosterone that was at fault.

I was deeply angry for two reasons. One, from a journalistic point, as I saw the original report on Catalyst about the findings. Secondly, and much more deeply, because of the fundamental sexism in the report.

The studies showed that men could get 'hormonal' and that testosterone evoked risk taking, but this made HIGHER profits for the banks. It also showed, however, humans (males and females) create these bubbles 100% of the time in markets because of false optimism (the example they gave was everyone thinks they are a good driver). In every single study they did, with their fake shares and trading, everyone tried to sell high and buy low and kept pushing and pushing until the bubble burst.

Technically, what you'd want from the study would be pessimistic males.

But, the fundamental flaw is that they were completely sexist. If I did a piece of news saying how females hormones make them worse drivers, I'd be torn to pieces. Rightly so. It's because I'm generalising and degrading. I'm saying all females succumb to their hormones, and they all have this problem. I'm being sexist.

But 10 News gets away with it and it's A ok.

(And I didn't even touch on the sexism of Breast Cancer Awareness... men can get it too, just so you know).

ASIDE:
There was another piece. About a Hi-5 girl (think The Wiggles for our internationals playing along), who quit 1 year ago, has now done a photo shoot in FHM. There was one woman from the Austalian Women's Forum, who was basically saying how it was degrading and how she shouldn't do it etc etc.

One thing really stuck in my head. If women's liberation meant freedom to work, be responsible for yourself etc, does that not mean you can be responsible for choosing to appear in a 'men's magazine'?

Currently, they have a Democratic leader who is trying to bring in universal health care. That would provide basic health care needs to cover every citizen in the na

Last night I had a big catch-up sleep, and slept for almost 11hrs. The dream I had was so long, real, and moving, that I feel the need to write ab

  • I had a dream last night, which was very detailed (like always) where I had for one reason or another a child, maybe 4 or 5, that wouldn't go to bed. He had a baseball cap that he loved. So I took the cap and a pair of scissors and warned him that if he didn't go to bed in 5 seconds I'd cut it. 1 2 3 4 5.. snip, c
