ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAl PARK---A few years back I saw my first bear in a forest near here. It was the first I had seen in 12 years of coming here, the past two days I have spotted a bear, within ten feet if me. I have named him Buford.
This has been a bad year for bears, they come down to eat human trash. Buford toppled my trash receptacle, it had been secured. That was today, yesterday he tried to get into my vehicle. He tried to pry open the back door, no luck for Buford.
I rode up to the meadows yesterday, where there is a lovely stream for your horse to splash through. I don't get enough opportunities to ride, my grandfather loved to ride horses. He was very proud to put me on my first pony. There are not many things that I find more natural than riding a horse.
We rode up to the highest part of the park along Trail Ridge Road. The view is wondrous, you are above the clouds and timberline. the weather can change in a minute. The ride back down is quicker, a nice break for the horsepower.
Tommorow is another ride, this one to Bear Lake. I remember Bear Lake as the first place I ever saw in the park. It was October, cold and snowy. The lake is a vision, a hike around it is a nice break for your companions before heading back down.
That of course leads me down to another meeting with Buford. We're acquaintances now,Buford. I hope you find a diner up in the mountains, it's best for you. I would dine with you, but you're not a strict vegetarian. Eat healthy my brother, stay away from the garbage food.
