Second Day 04/14/09

AM

Getting played with by my old job. The head of marketing is on vacation and so they tell me to stand in place, neither laid off or employed. Great way to avoid paying workman's compensation. I am at choice.

Got work done on the house yesterday, things that have waited years got finished. My sister, bless her soul, came over and helped get it done. She can do more with dry wall and finishing in a few moments than I can in a week. My wife is happier because she can see things getting finished. It makes me happy and sad all at once.

The ladies told me they are coming early, April 29th. I am looking forward to it.

Never done a journal before. When I write about it, life sounds pretty humdrum and boring. I am reading "Q School" by John Finestein. I get up make breakfast, do the crossword. Clean windows on the front door and back door. I shall find more to clean and hope my sister comes by to help finish the dry wall work.

Tomis, am so glad you get moments to read books. You sister is a peach! Can I borrow her? I'd love to be able to do what she does...guess I should roll up my sleeves and get with it. It's probably the only way I'll ever learn!

As for 'hum-drum' we get used to our own thoughts, so they don't seem extra-ordinary at all. Poetry moves us out of that familarity, but there is beauty in everyday things, too. Thanks for sharing ~ Karen

  • Life has been a host of everything else the last few days. We got the boys room half way painted. My wife freaked out at the immensity of painting until my sister came to the rescue. We want to perserve the ways we measured him on the wall. Particularly the point where he came out taller than mom. Big day for the lit

  • AM I only have the wall left in my bed room and a couple of coats on corner bead. Then it will be time for painting. Checked the classifieds and there were five jobs posted. I am going to have to hang out at some of the kitchen design stores and beat my own drum. It is a process and I do believe God shall provide

  • AM Listening to old Cat Stevens records and feeling the ache in my shoulder and elbow from a fall I took yesterday. Went to a open Mic. Read a few poems. Well received. Listened to people, I have seen and heard so many times they have become familiar friends. Had a tall and lovely blonde, smile out of her shadows
