One book you’re currently reading:
What To Do When Someone Dies by Nicci French1
One book that changed your life:
Goldengrove by Francine Prose. It didn't change my life, per se, but it changed the way I write. Since I started writing my own novels, I've found it a lot harder to get into other people's, but this woman's style is mind-blowing. Really.2
One book you’d want on a deserted island:
Either the aforementioned Goldengrove or a dictionary.
3
One book you’ve read more than once:
The Phantom of the Opera (in English and French), 1 through 6 of the Harry Potter series, all of the Parker Brothers series Clue when I was younger.
4
One book you’ve never been able to finish:
Christy. I forget the author's name; it was a great book, but I just couldn't finish it.5
One book that made you laugh:
Og Mandino's book, The Greatest Salesman In The World. There was another one as well, some self-help book my sperm-donor *cough* biological-father used to make me read; I Wanna Go Home by Gordon Korman was some funny shit, and so was the Bible.
6
One book that made you cry:
I remember crying at the end of Other Bells For Us To Ring by Robert Cormier. The man's a genius. 7
One book you keep rereading:
Goldengrove. Seriously, Francine Prose is genius, and I can't wait to find her other 14 novels. Sleep, Pale Sister by Joanne Harris is another good one. 8
9
One book you’ve been meaning to read:
That would have to be Secret Relations by Annabel Dilke. I never found the time for it, and now it's in my storage-unit until I get to my new apartment. Damn.10
One book you believe everyone should read:
Goldengrove. Again. Even if you think it sucks, that Prose woman's style is life-altering.11
Finally, grab the nearest book. Open it to page 56. Find the fifth sentence:
"Thousands of parents had died, but most of them were known, or at least known of." -From Black Bird by Michel Basilières. 12
13
Yeah, I like my books.
