I just wanted to say that I'm very happy!
I just got my grades back from OCC for my College English 101 class. I'm please to announce that I earned a C+ in the course, I'm getting 3 credits, and I will be contuining on with College English 102.
Okay a C+ in an English class doesn't sound that lovely. I'm used to having an A in a English course because it has always been my strength. Being a senior in high school I wanted something a little bit more diffcult. Instead of taking AP English I decided to take College English so:
One, I could get credit for the class
Two, I wouldn't have to take the class when I enter into College in the fall.
And Three, learn how to be better writer by the end of the year.
I have to say through out the class I was stuggling a lot. My first quarter grade was a 65. That's just passing. You see I want to be a journalist. I will be studying communcation next year in school. I figured that if I couldn't write a simple essay in a Freshman level course, how the hell was I going to become an accomplished writer?
I really started to second guess my abilities, but all along the way I had great support from friends and family. Even my teacher, Mrs. Gilmore had faith in me.
And that is why I improved in the course.
Next week second semster is starting up and I have to prove I belong in College English 102.
I promise, that if I don't have a B or better, then I really didn't learn anything.
Time will tell. I have faith in myself.
