I wish people could understand
how much you mean to me. 1
My heart skips a beat, cliche.
I love you so much, Not true.
I can't live without you, lie.
I love you, 3 words that are over used. 2
I don't remember the last time
when saying i love you actually meant something.3
Sex is the new making love.
What has this generation come to?
I scream, yell, cry and yet no one hears.4
I'm in love.
in love with you. 5
can i say those three little words?
yes. 6
Do i say them to you?
no. 7
I breathe, cry, drink, eat
the pain you cause me.
Deep down i know you don't mean
but why hope for something?
when i know you'll never change.8
I remember when i was little
Saying i love you was the real deal.
What happened to that?
what happened to actually meaning what you say?9
walk away.
it's fine by me.
don't expect for me to forgive.10
I wish we could change.
but i know that's never going to happen.
So let's leave it at this...11
My love, you're free.
Goodbye.

This is an excellent poem on so many levels. There are so many truths in it, and good questions. Your observations of the human condition as it relates to personal relationships is remarkable. It is also true in how it reflects the change that has taken place in people of this generation. Values have changed; we see it every day on the news. I can remember a day when boys and men would never dream of using foul language in the presence of the elderly, or girls or women, and I remember also when, if people found someone's wallet or purse, they would return it to the one who lost it. But it's all very different now and you have captured it very well in this poem. And lastly, I agree that people today very often don't say what they mean or mean what they say more, I believe, than ever before. This is a powerful poem. Thank you for sharing it.

Very good poem - from the heart, from your experience, and with a lot of thought. I believe you are saying two things here - one is the message to "you" - this is clear and straightforward; but more importantly, you are talking about what love is in language and human relationships. You are right - saying something doesn't mean one means it, nor understands it. This is a universalism and you captured that deep and meaningful issue we all face in our lives. Well done.

it means a lot to me when people read this and actually understand what i'm trying to say.

Love is a commodity bought and sold. Just my take on it. You wrote this very well and I like the way it reads.

It was the right thing to do. It felt like it at least. 1 Letting you go was hard. Harder than i thought. But you were on your way and i had to understand. 2 I love you, i don't care. you chose that road and now you'll stick by it. no coming back to the way we used to be. 3 You came back, and expeon Aug 21 8:53 PM, 300 words. → 8 comments, Add one?
