ways to cure cancer / aids

Cancer and aids seem to be the biggest 'unsolveable' mysteries of our generation. So I thought I'd brainstorm a little.1

They both seem to feed off of our immune system to some degree. Our immune systems is pretty cool most of the time, but the it has these little bugs like this and it gets annoying.2

The "normal" treatment at this point is to try and beat the crap out of your immune system so it can't help the cancer/aids.3

Other ideas:4

Get some "marker" to affix itself to the bad thing, so the immune system can see it for what it really is (supposedly some people working on this).5

Give the body a real infection to fight. Attack the cancer somehow while this is happening and the immune system is otherwise occupied.6

I wonder if experiments with cryo-freezing of humans might have the ability to "reboot" our immune systems. So cut out all the cancer pieces, maybe filter the blood, then do a cry-freeze "reboot".7

It's too bad that cancer doesn't have a better sense of self-preservation so as not to hurt too much / kill its host in order to keep surviving. If it was an even smarter organism, it'd be less awful for us too (or possibly anyways).8

Raise or lower the body temperature enough and maybe that'd piss off the cancer more than the rest of the body?9

Cells work based on electrical signals, could experiments with controlled electrocution, (or even localized electrocution?) have any affect?10


Hmm, well I wish I knew more about this to have better brainstorms But if this helps anyone cure cancer, then go world!

    Electrocution LOL at least you wouldn't die of cancer What is needed are Nano machines capable of tracking down and elimination of cancer cells...
    Or the ability to turn off the cancer gene in DNA might be the way to go

    Im sure bigger brains than us are working on it. My only concern is if they find a cure what would be the politics of the Multi Nationals that owned it. Would they make more money from with holding the cure and supplying sick with drugs. Or will the cure cost so much that it will only be available to the mega wealthy.

    I only wonder because of the amount of money that is poured into cancer and Aids research, And the amount of research teams world wide that are working on these two problems. I would have thought it would be a long way towards being cured by now. If we can stick a man on the Moon a robot on Mars why then is this sooo hard a problem

    Thought provoking, indeed

    From what little I know, combining your first 'marker' idea with your last 'electrocution' idea may hold the most promise, causing 'localized electrocution'. On 60 Minutes I saw where localized microwaves held promise guided by a 'marker' of some radioactive isotope, if I remember right.
