January 11, My Day of Birth.

So yesterday was my birthday. And it was pretty much amazing, too! Even with my dad losing his job earlier this week, my parents managed to actually remember my birthday this year. For the past several years my birthday has gone virtually unnoticed in their world. Perhaps the layoff helped them get their priorities straight. Not that it should be all about me, mind you, but I wouldn't even get a Happy Birthday! out of them. I could do without the cake and presents. But this year they remembered, and it makes me happy.

Yesterday a group of friends and I went to Wichita, Lee being among them. We went out to Old Chicago, Starbucks, and the Riverwalk and Downtown areas. It was so much fun! On the drive down, Lee kept putting rubber bands from Heather's car onto the lock on my door, and stretched them around his. I forgot about it and when I tried to open my door at Old Chicago, it didn't exactly work out too well, lol. Then later I randomly picked up my knife, made a face and pointed it at him. Then he picked up his and made a face at me, and started sawing at my hand with it, and I returned the favor. I don't know if he was indulging my random stupidity out of just being nice or if it was some form of flirtation. That's what sucks about the night. I never knew if he was being nice just because it was my birthday and I'm his friend, or if maybe there might be something more.

But anyway, we got down to the Riverwalk and Downtown. We kept posing with different statues and stuff. And Lee and I would randomly break out into music from the Messiah and whatnot. Nate would randomly dissapear and reappear out of nowhere and scare the crap out of me. That kid is hillarious! Finally we decided it was time to head back home. I didn't want the night to end. Sadly, like all good things, it had to come to an end. I had a truly amazing time.

Wow it's amazing the things that you find out about the people you talk to on here. When my husband and I got married the first time, it was Jan-11th-1974. Sadly we got divorced, but we re-married again Dec-31st-81. Congrats on getting another year older, it beats the alternative .

I'm glad you had such a great time. A few days late, but, Happy Birthday! I'm glad your parents remembered yours this year! Hm--Old Chicago and the Riverwalk. I graduated from Concordia River Forest, which is now called Concordia Chicago. Right near Oak Park. Spent a lot of time in Chicago. When I went there by train the last few times, I would get off one train at Union Station, walk along the river to North Western Station (now in the Northwestern Atrium Center), and catch the train to Oak Park or River Forest.
