Sadie's Babies

July seventh, 20091

My foster dog Sadie had seven beautiful puppies this morning at ten o' clock (through three-thirty).2

In birth order:3

Sophia,
Hector,
Atreyu,
Demetri,
Jasper,
Rafael,
Oliver.4

They are all border collie / beagle somethings. All but one are black and white. Hector is brown and white. A few of the black and white ones have tan accents. I was worried they'd all look alike... and they do. 5

I researched for DAYS, and was soooo prepared... had a plastic whelping box lined with newspaper... had all the supplies. Tuesday (July 7th) morning, let her out to use the restroom at eight-thirty, and for the LIFE of me, could not get her to get out of the WOODEN dog house... decided to just leave her there, and at 10 o'clock went to check on her, and Oh DEAR! Sophia was lying there, crying.29

I figured it was easier to let her pollute the wooden doghouse, then try to move her... will clean it out good and disinfect it later.30

Babies have been moved inside and are nursing, fat and healthy. My own two dogs are dumbfounded by them. 31
