I am a forester, and father of three wonderful daughters 19 to 14 years old. My sweet wife, my daughters and I live in Northwestern California, with our little Yorkie, Summer. I have written since High School, but have never tried to publish until recently.
Mostly I enjoy reading, and writing fantasy. I played D&D as a youth, and started writing my Dragonsword novel in my late teens. Although I have never completed that, I still remember it and have recently thought about reviving and rewriting (and finishing it).
Although I have written many short stories, I am by nature a novelist. My first complete Novel "Emmel's Quest" was submitted unsuccessfully a couple of times and is now undergoing a significant re-write.
Meanwhile, I have gotten many chapters into my second Novel, about a Earthmagic-user who before the end of the book has to come to terms with the fact that there is a purpose for life and a creator that is greater than himself. This was inspired by music, as are many of my stories. This one by the song "Gone Away" by Offspring.
At this stage in my life, most of my long-term writing are based loosely around gaining faith. But from the stories I've posted, and those to follow, it is obvious that my taste run wide. I read almost exclusively SF and Fantasy, the latter being my preference.
I enjoy Tolkein, of course, but prefer Terry Brooks. David Eddings, Piers Anthony, and Michael Morcock are favored authors. And of course anything written by R.A. Salvatore. Wies and Hickman are a great comobo team, and the David Farland Rune Lords books are fascinating.

MeKaBa on October 28Sounds like we have the same perspective and taste in authors. I love Morcock and Anthony. The others should be looked into, well I read Eddings the Younger Gods and found it boring at times, my son and son inlaw read the vast series Eddings put outbut I never got around to it.. Have you tried Robert Jordon?
