I study Geology at the University of Liverpool, but I've always loved writing and still spend a lot of time on it, splitting most of it these days between short stories and two full length novels, a comedy called Englebert Chronicles and an unconventional fantasy called Darkest Ursrai, both currently coming on very well.
English is very much my language, but I have a general interest in foreign languages and cultures and also etymological links between languages, which probably explains why I have so many foreign films on DVD and so much foreign language music on CD. I also spend far too much time watching and listening to these.
I favour writing sci-fi and fantasy, generally alternating between serious and comic. I'd list Douglas Adams as my favourite author, but I also have a lot of respect for Terry Pratchett, Stephen Fry, Tom Holt, Sergei Lukyanenko and whoever else I happen to be reading at the time.
