  1. How do I add my story?

    Choose 'Add a story', on the right side of the screen, under the heading "Your Account".
    Stories can only be placed through the 'Add Story' area, and cannot go on the forum.

  2. How do I get points for commenting?

    You can get points for a comment over 100 characters long.

    There are two ways:
    • By how the story author rates your comments: You get one point for each of four rating stars. You get 0 points for 1 star.
    • By commenting on Featured Stories, which is the same as Rewarding Comments. Stories that are rewarding comments over a bonus 4 (currently) points credited when you make the comment. If the author rates your comment with 1 star, the bonus is removed, but not given back to them.

  3. How do I rate a comment? And Why?

    People want points, which is one motivation for adding comments.
    Rating a comment is what gives people points. If it was a 'nice write' comment, give it 1 or 2 stars. If the comment was critical, and went into detail about ways to improve your story, give it 5 stars.

    Each star shown corresponds to 1/5 points. As you hover your mouse over them, they will turn orange to show how many you have selected. Click the star when the correct number of stars are yellow.

    Only one comment per story per poster can be rated. Additional ratings on comments by the same person will replace earlier ratings.

  4. How is popularity decided?

    By you, the authors of storywrite!
    • When you critique a story, and choose the "overall" rank for it, that adds points to the story's popularity. It looks like this:

    • If you choose rank 5-6, that will add 5 or 6 points to that story's rank.
    • "Overall" ranks 7-10 are restricted, so there are only a certain number of times you can use them in a 1-week period. These ranks are worth twice as much as ranks 5-6, since they're restricted.
    • Rank is additive only, so ranking a story low doesn't lower its popularity at all.
    • A story's current rank is its total for the last 7 days. Each night, ranks from 7 days ago are erased, and moved to the "lifetime" rank!

  5. My story doesn't show up in a particular category

    The listings for a category are cached, which means they are only updated every 10 or so minutes. Hang tight and your story should show up there eventually.
