The Suggestions
1. Check your story multiple times for typos and check back several times before the contest closes to see if you think you should do edits as a result of some of the feedback that you get. You will have a better chance of being considered for a trophy if your piece is well polished by the time it is judged as a finalist.
2. Since this is an interactive site, take the opportunity to read and comment on some of your fellow contestants. It is a great way to start getting to know other writers and initiate contacts that will most likely return the favor and read and comment on your works. This will not affect the judging of the contest, but it will help you become accustomed to interacting with other writers on the site.
3. Keep your readers eyes in mind when choosing your font and background colors. A story that is easy to view is more likely to be well received by readers. If you are in doubt about whether or not your type shows well against your background, then opt for white background with black type. You can always change it after the contest if you want to experiment with colors
4. Be sure to read all the rules. It doesn't hurt to read them twice. It would be a shame to be overlooked for trophy because some silly rule was not adhered to.
Happy writing and best of luck to you all.
