GSA Gay Straight Alliance Contest

This contest is for members of the group "GSA Gay Straight Alliance."

We have lots of options for you today - some of which were your ideas, and some of which were ours:

1 - Letter to a Homophobe
If you choose this option, we would like to see a letter written to a homophobic teacher, parent, brother, sister, grandparent, friend (or really anyone homophobic) confronting them about their choice in hating LGBT. A letter back is always welcome as well.

Length? Between 700 and 3000 words.

2 - Straight is Wrong

If you choose this option, we would like to see a world in the opposite light of our own. We would like to see a world where the greater majority of people are homosexual, and heterosexuality is of the minority. Remember though, even though some people will be heterophobic, there will also be many supporting gay people. Consider adding straight pride events in your story, and keep this one appropriate.

Length? Between 1000 and 7000 words.

3 - Fred Phelps

If you choose this option, we would like to see a story based around your opinions, or one of your characters opinions of the views shared by Fred Phelps and his followers. The following link is probably one of the few non-biased sites regarding him and his opinions:

http://fredphelps.com/

If you don't want to talk about Fred Phelps, you can also write about another anti-gay activist, or websites, such as GodHatesFags, etc.

You may choose GodHatesTheWorld if you choose one of the following countries:

Canada
Australia
The UK
Russia
Thailand
India
China
Japan
Italy
Ireland
Sweden
Finland

ObsequiousSycophant would like to add that unfortunate events resulting in the harm or death of anti-gay activists are encouraged, especially in the case of Fred Phelps.

Length? Between 1000 and 5000 words.

4 - Prompt
If you choose this option, we would like a message from you asking for either a title, quote or line for inspiration. We would like to read a story involving LGBT as a main character. It's alright if you focus on their relationship with someone else, but we would prefer a "casual relationship story," which focuses on a plot besides their own sexual preference, though it is present in the story.

Length? Between 1000 and 6000 words.

AND NOW PRESENTING YOUR JUDGES

Aelphaba Atticus

ObsequiousSycophant

Orimis

And myself, Kevan

Special Thanks for Points: GuitarShank, ObsequiousSycophant, Aelphaba Atticus, Bethany, VampireFriends, Light-kira and Seria.

And Rules!
-Erotica is allowed, as is swearing, but please label "Adult"
-No chat speak, sticky caps, or "txt talk." Use full words, run a spell check, and use correct grammar whenever possible.
-Each person may enter twice, but may NOT use the same option for both entries.
-Please use the correct word count depending on your option. A couple of words off is okay, but keep it reasonably. We have over 2000 points here.
-Make the option you chose clear, and if we are unsure which option it is, we will message you, asking.
-The contest will be open for at least three weeks.
-No prewritten stories.
-All stories will be commented by at least one of the judges.
-If you are not a member of GSA Gay Straight Alliance, you must join before submitting an entry in this contest. Everyone will be checked.
-If you would like to donate points, it is not mandatory, but it would make the prizes even bigger! Message me first if you wish to do this, and they will be added at the END of the contest.

Best of luck,
Kevan, ObsequiousSycophant, Orimis and Aelphaba Atticus.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on July 9
  • Rewards: Gold: 1500, Silver: 850, Bronze: 613, Honorable mention: 2 people
  • Final notes:
Thank you all for the incredible entries. Those that weren't incredible were simply amazing, and honestly, without the other three judges, I would not have been able to choose winners.

I hope the GSA Contest will turn into an annual thing, and we'll be looking for new judges soon enough, so keep your eye on the group.

A special thanks to those who donated points: GuitarShank, ObsequiousSycophant, Aelphaba Atticus, Bethany, VampireFriends, Light-kira and Seria. Sorry to anyone I missed.

Alright! So that's it I guess. If you've won, please use the points wisely! There's a lot going out. And in return I get... 20 or 30! Hahaha. Lovely.

Remember to stay active in the group, and I'm going to judge this right now!

    Kevan.

These can be written by a straight point of view - just make sure your story is about gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered people.

    • I'm straight and I'm trying my hand at it. I find it fun to put myself in someone else's place in my writing. It's a unique challenge.

I would like a prompt. This contest is looking great.

I'm looking for a line of dialogue or "quote" prompt, please?

I guess I'll take a prompt and see what I can come up with. I don't particularly care what it is, as long as I can submit it later (meaning it's not an idea you'd like to use for yourself.) I don't care what it is, but I'd prefer a quote or a line for inspiration.

If that doesn't work, I'll do the letter thing. : )

"If you don't want to talk about Fred Phelps, you can also write about another anti-gay activist, or websites, such as www.godhatesfags.com , etc."

    DAMN YOU
I wrote a great story around god hates fags but you've put only new stories.
    -grumbles-
I'll get you for this D:

    • Psh, I'm sure that, given the incentive of writing about a dying Phelps you can come up with something new?
Just watch the Michael Moore sodomvan video. xD

    I'm sorry, I don't get this line? O.o
Shouldn't it be, "Supporting straight people" ?

Haha, no, I mean what I said

While some people in this alternate world will be hateful towards the straight people,
      Others will be kind.

    • You'd better enter this, Aaez!
Right a steamy boi love story.

      OH.

      I finally understood your question.
I meant supporting as an adjective, not a verb.

      Sorry for the confusion.

  • can I have a quote prompt please?

  • I cant write O.O Id love to but anytime I try writting somthing it turns out being the complete oppisit of what I was suppose to or wanted to write. xP.

P.S. How do you give points?

  • Can I have a prompt please?

I'll take a prompt too, Kevan! I can't wait to start. I'm straight, but in my own mind, NO ONE is 100 % straight. I seriously think that if I fell in love with a woman, then it has everything to do with her and HER characteristics, not her gender. So rock on!

Shaweet! I'll try and get on writing something. I'll have to branch out of my poetic world view - my experience with writing stories is next to 0.

Give me something for the last option...please

  • I'm not in the GSA here on Storywrite, but I've joined the GSA in my school (the formation of the alliance is the reason our current principal is resigning this year), and though I don't plan on entering this contest, I wanted to make a comment on the Phelps kid. I hadn't heard of him before, but after clicking and reading my initial thoughts were definitely,
    "What an ass. "
    That is all. (:

      I think you should enter

No one has yet entered anything on him.

      • I don't think I could write a thousand words or so on how much the world should dislike him. xD; I'll try, but it may end up more parodyish or humor and nonsense, and no promises 'cause I don't know if I can. x]

About the letter option. The letter can be a part of fiction right? Or do you want a complete philosophical take on it?

Ugh. Your prompt is so good, but I don't know what to write!

    UGH.

I'll, hopefully, write the story based off the prompt. I dunno when, but I will. and if I can't seem to write it, I'll do the letter, lol.

    QUESTION.
Is there any way that I can just write a story that's not in a category, per se? Dx
'Cause I have this beginning written that I would REALLY like to dedicate to this contest, but it doesn't fit and I don't know if I could handle a prompt. D:

I'm honestly tempted to just enter what I've written unedited. I don't know if it's really worth it or not.

    -_-

      You might as well try

It will definitely be considered. As long as it's evident you put a lot of effort in, the group of judges probably won't pay too much attention to the word count. Thanks for asking first though

      Kevan.

  • Just noticed we can do more than one!!! yay!!!!!

  • I'm not sure who to send a message to, so I'll just ask for a prompt here. May I have a prompt, please?

Edit: I really don't care which prompt I get.
